DataFlex Reports 2024 Beta Released
We are pleased to announce the availability of the beta release of the DataFlex Reports 2024.
DataFlex Reports 2024 will from now on use the same internal number reference as DataFlex and thus jump from the current 8.2 version to 24.0.
This update of the reporting engine brings a couple of larger changes next to the usual bugfixes and smaller enhancements
The biggest changes are:
- Formatted text through HTML
- Examples
- Combine normal printed text with bold or underlined text
- Use a (un)ordered list
- Embed images in text
- Support for XML embedding in a PDF document
- Mainly for an upcoming European Union requirement that billing PDF documents contain the billing information in XML format. The technique is know as: E-Rechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X
- More control over tool-bar buttons in the previewers and export dialogs
- No need to create self defined Windows previewer classes to control the options in a tool-bar, control the options via properties in cDRReport. In the export dialog (Windows and Web) control what options should be made available to the user
Smaller but not less important enhancements are:
- Comments at parameter level, accessible via integration as well
- Support for horizontal tabs and line breaks in text
- The maintenance tool can be used to generate new report IDs (GUIDs) for selected reports
- The maintenance tool can now also update pagelayer files to the latest version
- Allow pressing ENTER to create a new line in various editors in the DataFlex Reports Studio
- Zoom-in and Zoom-out buttons for the Windows previewers
- Retrieve paper length and width through integration

The beta version runs on DataFlex 2024 and installs a Windows Client when no Studio is installed. At report integration level DataFlex 2024 is supported. The beta version runs with a license code until April 1st 2024. Version 24 on release requires new license codes.
