Given that i have a "polling" service that runs in the background as a proper windows service. this is fine, except that every so often it fails, and the users get an error "Data not Polled" on the "Other" system.

On the PC where the service is running, i need to have the user WHO CAN NOT ELEVATE TO ADMINSTRATOR, trigger something that will cause the service to be restarted.

It appears that having an event be written to the "Windows Application Event log" can be used as a trigger in the Task Scheduler.

1. Has anyone else already done this?
2. How do i write to the windows event log?
