On certain network installations it is possible to update running DataFlex applications whereas the program file is blocked on other installations which make it necessary for all users to close the application before it is possible to replace the program file on the server. I have not understood the what difference it is between networks that block the running exe-file and networks that doesn’t. I have recognized that the possibility to replace running program files have changed over time. By one customer it was blocked some years ago, then it not, after some month it was blocked again and now I discovered that it again is possible to replace the program file when it is used.

The user must of course re-start the application to use the updated version.

My question is if there is any risk to replace the program file when it is used. Can it be problems with deferred views? Can it cause data corruption? I use DF18.2 and the native database.
