    Default index.html and SSI

I have turned on SSI for use with one of our web applications. And added a SSI handler mapping to allow the index.html to use SSI. I also need to unlock the configuration editor to allow the web.config to be read.

I am now looking into removing the handler mapper, but to make SSI work I need to rename index.html to index.shtml. This way I don't need to unlock the configuration editor, which makes IIS easier to setup and stops the BUT WHY? question from network admins.

Will renaming index.html to index.shtml have any unforeseen consequences??
