I get that (& Michael's thoughts as well). When the client has all these spreadsheets & have accessed the buckets for years, they don't want to change 100 of 'em to look at views nor to pay me to produce the views.

Anyway - I did not mean to hijack Bob's thread. It's my opinion that some embedded SQL should work fine in Update (with the possible issue of getting an error from the DB) - but I've never tried it. I've certainly run ESQL in Request_Save - but that's not locked. Maybe Request_Save would be safest.
