    Default Database error, not saved

    Hi Friends

This time I want to ask about some new cases that I experienced in my web application

    Issue 1:
It happened on March 26 at around 4 pm, suddenly the user experienced an application program slowing down, if it was clicked for a long time to load
(this has often been asked by my customer)
At 7:40 p.m., I always backup the database from the customer's server
(Please note, I have reloaded the database settings every 7.20 hours via Web Application properties)
The next day, my customer complained that the data input from 4 pm to 5 pm was lost
I also checked the results of my backup which was at 7:40 that night and in fact there was no data by my customer said it's already filled.
So in this case I want to ask, do you think there are mistakes?
Is it caused by the database commit commit not working from 4 o'clock to 7 o'clock at night? and why?
My conclusion is setting web application properties (automatically reload every: ... hour) is not related to the conditions above, is it true?

    Issue 2:
I also want to ask if an error occurs when I want to backup.
When copying files, an error occurs that says "the process can not access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file"
Even though all programs have been closed.
In Windows, I have experienced this, but only certain files cannot copy, and that is because there is still a program that has not been closed.

    Thank you for the help

    Best regards

    Yasa,

Are you using the DataFlex embedded database? In that case the best thing is to switch to a client server database such as MSSQL.

    Hi Vincent,

Yes, I am using an embedded database at the moment
Is the embedded database weak for the web environment that I'm experiencing?
How to anticipate in the short term?
I guess where should I do the settings?
Migration to MSSQL takes a long time, I am looking for a solution because this is a significant problem

    Thanks
    Regards

    Yasa,

No it is OK to use the DataFlex embedded database for your data entry operations. But if you were using SQL you will see that a backup can be made while the database is in use.

There is nothing in your message that would let me think why your data is gone.

while it is a better choice to go with a SQL database it doesnt make sense that you would loose a full hour of work and the rest is ok

if data was entered and was actually available there isnt much that could undo an hour of work

    Hi Friends

Suppose I change in Web Application Properties
    Automatically reload every: 4 hours.
(At this time I set the reload every 24 hours ie 7.20 at night to meet at 7:20 the next night)

If it is changed to 4 hours, then reload will occur at 7 in the morning, 11 in the afternoon, 3 in the afternoon, 7 in the evening.

Can this help if Reload is set 2 times during working hours, which is 11 and 3 pm.
    Please help

    Thank you for the help

    can this help with what?

with data not being saved? No

you need to find out what the real issues is. Once the data is saved in the database it shouldnt disappear

so first you need to make sure to find whats really going on, not necessarily what the customer is telling you

the fact that they experience what they call slowdowns could be pointing to an issue in your application of course

    Hi Michael

Is the data can not be stored and slowdown can be due to a large database?
At present the database files have reached 1.62GB in the data folder (*.dat and * K*)
There are certain files whose file size reaches 330MB.
So that the cache memory is not enough to hold the database and fail when transmitting or timeout

    Thank you for the help

thats nothing in terms of size.

a slowdown could be an issue with database locking but that would depend on your code. Aborted transactions will reverse data saved to the db but you couldnt have a transaction open for an hour and other people working at the same time

    Hi Michael

Can you explain to me the functions of the automatic reload database that was created on a scheduled basis
and what is the point of doing database reloading.
If I pay attention to the timestamp of the database in the Data folder, the database that is accessed by a certain hour,
but does not change the timestamp in its database (* .dat or * .k *)
And can appear at any time the database with a new timestamp when the system is not used

    Thank you for the help
