Default Problems with installing LibXL ob certain networks

I am using LibXL with DF 18.2 and classes from StarZen. Usually it works well, but by certain customers with computer networks there are problems.

When installing LibXL by customers, I put the files libxl.dll, libxl.net.dll and szLibXL.dll in the DF 18.2 bin folder.

Then the following commands are run from a .bat-file:

    cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Dataflex 18.2\Bin
    call C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\RegA sm.exe szLibXL.dll /CODEBASE

This is done on every computer as well as on the server in networks.

By one customer, LibXL doesn’t work on any machine. They probably run Windows 10 on all terminals and Windows Server 2012. By another customer LibXL works on three computers with Window7 but not on two other with Windows 10.

The error messages are show already when the DF application is started.

Unable to instantiate COM object. Active X component may not be properly installed or registered. Error code 0x80040154
    Error: 4398

We just are starting to use LibXL and we found you can do SxS (SideBySide) registration in the manifest file.

With the version I uses both xls and xlsx-files can be created.
Get CreateBook of oLibXL False to hoBook creates a xls-file and Get CreateBook of oLibXL True to hoBook gives a xlsx-file.

    My szLibXL.dll is from 2018-10-17

I played with that some month ago and it worked on my machine, but when I tried to use it by a customer it didn't work. Then someone said that the computer has to be re-started after the manifest file is put on it. As re-starting is difficult over TeamViewer and on servers, I went back to REGASM again. Is it so that the computer has to be re-started or is it sufficient to put the manifest file in the programs folder?

On my own computer I have the opposite problem. LibXL works whatever I do. I try to un-register LIbXL with

    cd Program Files (x86)/DataFlex 18.2/Bin
    call C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Rega sm /u szlibxl.dll

and get the answer: Types are un-registered

I also re-name the manifest file, but LibXL still works.

Can there be conflicts when both registering with REGASM and using manifest file?

for the sxs registration you shouldnt need to restart

once unregistered it shoudlnt work any longer

if you use both REGASM and a manifest file there will be a conflict of course. Not sure really what it would use if you had both. in the end it shouldnt matter as long as they are both the same version

also if you have issues with sxs manifests you can debug these issues using sxstrace

Michael, I upgraded to version 1.3.0.0 of your LibXL library and that corrects the .xls file issue - now when I use it, it seems the unlicensed Libxl is being used and stops after about 300 cells. What do I need to do so that is uses the licensed version I purchased ?

    thanks
