Re: Definitive Way to Install VDF Embedded DB on Terminal Server
Leslie,
I've installed dataflex apps on remote desktop / terminal server machines.
Oplocks
No need to set these if your app only runs from a local drive and on a single remote desktop machine. Create a folder on C (Or D, if you have multiple local drives) for your app, and host it all from there. Do not run the app from a share. If you run it locally, it'll be much faster.
I don't think you need to do that "change user/install" thing before installing the client, but it shouldn't hurt.
Write Caching.
- Make sure any RAID servers don't write cache. They'll probably not do this as a default.
Other
- Run the app off a separate SSD drive for a bit of extra speed
In order.
- Install the Dataflex Client and your licenses.
- Register any OCX's (e.g. the report OCX)
- copy the app to c:\myapp or d:\myapp
If you are accessing your database from multiple Terminal Servers, then it is more complicated.
