    You also should *not* SQLdisconnect in combination with SQLfileconnect.

    You either create a new connection yourself with sqlConnect and then it sorta makes sense to disconnect it, although you could also make a strong argument to keep reusing this same connection.

    SQLfileconnect does not create a new connection, in stead you use one that already exists. I'm not sure what happens if you close this connection, but it could very well lead to error messages like in your first post.

    This turns out to be incorrect. You do need to disconnect, even when I never do it :-). Not really an issue if you reuse one connection, but if you do not do that you should disconnect.
