Not only SAP... Microsoft are working on convert all it's Microsoft Business
Solutions applications (Great Plains, Solomon, Navision and Axapta) to SOA
oriented applications (Green Project) using Web Services. This architecture
should be the future. You can find more information at Microsoft's site:

Look mainly on "Metropolis". It is an excellent vision of the present and
future of SOA.

About take SAP or Microsoft's Web Services components as our back or
middleend components of out application, I think that it will be a licence
restriction for the use of those services.
