    Default Problem on server

    Hi all

We have an issue with DF on Windows Server 2012. On three occassions now, files have disappeared from the DF installation. Both on our own server, and now also on a customer's server. On our server, it happened with 18.1. On the customer's server, we now have DF18.2 RC2 (it's only for testing purposes, not live).

Yesterday, there was no problem with that server, but today 70% of all files in the DF install are missing! We noticed it since their service was down, and trying to start it again, it said "cannot find the file specified".
Trying to "repair" the installation doesn't work. Only thing that works is a full re-install.

Has anyone else seen this? Anti-virus? Windows update?

Did you update these installations by uninstalling and installing a newer build? If so a reboot of the server might have caused the files to be removed.

Thanks Harm, that may very well be it. I will be more careful to reboot next time.

As Harm mentioned, you should always make sure there is nothing "pending" from an uninstall before doing a reinstall. Windows can be really tricky about letting components go and then even though everything looks fine after the reinstall, the next restart of the machine "finishes" removing components (even through the ones it's removing are the newly reinstalled versions). This can always be prevented by doing a restart between an uninstall and a reinstall.
    Best regards,
