    Exclamation Migrate to Beta 2

    Developers,

As John mentions in the introduction video, if you are using DataFlex 18.1, you want to move to 18.2. While we will be moving toward full release at a very quick pace, the sooner we can get your feedback the better the process and product will be.

We've done everything we can to make moving from 18.1 to 18.2 (both during beta and beyond) a very simple operation.

First, downloading and installing the beta won't interfere with your 18.0 or 18.1 installations because we have updated the Codejock build from 16.3.1 to 16.4.0.

Next, the migration process is very lightweight because there are really only two changes (when comparing a workspace from 18.1 to 18.2), the version in the .sws file and, for web applications, an updated Javascript engine (which will be updated when you open the workspace in the Studio).

We have addressed many of the initial reports of issues with Beta 1 in the Beta 2 release and would appreciate any time you can put into migrating again using Beta 2.

The main things to remember are not to migrate in place (unless you don't need to use the older version on that machine) and to create a different webshare for the 18.2 test workspace (again, the Studio will help you through this).

And if you have any questions about this process, just ask and we'll help walk you through it!

Once you have your workspace migrated, compile and run and test against you existing application(s). Review the list of bug fixes and implemented suggestions and pay special attention to those that address items of importance to your application(s).

Finally, talk to us. Tell us what you have done and what you have found. It really helps us when we get reports of what you have tested and the results (even when they are uneventful). If you do have any troubles, knowing about them sooner rather than later helps us make the adjustments you need.

There are some really nice aspects to DataFlex 18.2, so have some fun while you are at it.

    Best regards,

    Your Development Team
