    Exclamation Welcome to DataFlex 2014 - 18.1

Data Access Worldwide is pleased to announce the release of the alpha-test version of DataFlex 2014 - 18.1.

DataFlex 18.1 will enhance your development scope and productivity in many ways. Its major feature additions fall into two areas: core product enhancements applicable to all DataFlex applications and enhancements specific to mobile/touch applications.

The first 18.1 Alpha release focuses on the broad set of powerful additions to the core of the DataFlex product: the Studio, data dictionaries, the Web Framework, SQL connectivity enhancements (including Microsoft SQL Azure Database), language enhancements and much more.

The exciting new mobile additions to the DataFlex Web Framework will debut in a later DataFlex 18.1 Alpha release.

At a summary level, the DataFlex 18.1 Alpha 1 release delivers:

Studio – including improved visual modeling in the WebApp previewer, support for all the connectivity enhancements and significantly faster debugger performance

Data Dictionary improvements and additions – including more efficient handling of extended Data Dictionary fields, performance improvements, enhanced cascade delete control and more

Web Framework additions including “DD-remember” functionality for WebApps equivalent to the capability available for Windows applications, several bug fixes and more

Numerous Connectivity Enhancements including support for: Primary Keys and Clustered Indexes, SQL Identity columns, GUID columns, the Microsoft Azure SQL Database, improved large data handling and more

Improved Deleted Record Handling allows DDOs and DEOs to better handle situations where a current record is deleted by another user or action.

UChar Array Support makes it possible to manipulate large data without worrying about a maximum string size, embedded zeros or dealing with the overhead of memory manipulations

Enhancements to Struct and Array functions

Numerous developer suggestions and bug fixes
