Red face Secondary monitor dream come true

I have just today aquired a Asus Full HD 15.6" secondary monitor for my laptop. It connects via USB port, has no external power supply and it fits nicely within my existing laptop carrier bag.

Cool feature: It re-orients automatically when I tilt the screen. Reading the newsgroups in vertical orientation is how the newsgroups are meant to be read.

The monitor is slim and weighs nothing and therefore is a superb fit for a developer on the move. It shall display my webapp-previewer henceforth for one thing.

It cost me the equivalent of 200$/150eur.

I just think you should all know and here is a link

    Sture,

That looks really cool. Do you have any feel for what it does to battery life (or can you even run it if your laptop is only on battery)?

Yes I do and yes you can.

On my Latitude E6530 it reduces battery time from 2.5 hours to 1.5 (bright room, both screens on full power).

Think of all the heavy power monitors this 5W baby makes redundant.

    Thanks for the info.

As for making redundant, for a lot of uses yes, but I doubt it'll ever replace the 24" Dell on my desk

But even not counting your monitor, it will still be a lot of monitors

But those monitors are only 1366 x 768. Not good for programming in my opinion.

And btw, the Asus monitor is said to work with USB 2 as well.

I am sure the AOC monitor for USB 3.0 is backwards compatible to USB 2.0 also. As far as monitors go, I tend to buy cheap.
