    Exclamation DataFlex 2014 - 18.0 Beta 5 Download

Data Access Worldwide is pleased to announce the availability of DataFlex 2014 - 18.0 - Beta 5!

You can download the latest build (18.0.20.0) at:

    ftp://ftp.dataaccess.com/pub/product...tware/testing/

    ftp://ftp.dataaccess.com/pub/product...uild_Notes.htm

Please pay particular attention to the Build Notes pages in the What's New. We have restructured the Build Notes so that the changes are listed by category (Windows Framework, Web Framework, Studio, etc.) and recommend that all developers read through this list completely.

Now that DataFlex 18.0 has entered the Beta cycle we are feature complete for this revision and will focus on documentation, testing and addressing bugs as necessary.

    Testing Goals

Many of the changes in DataFlex 18.0 involve adding new features. If you are not using these new features, your application should work as before (except as noted below). We would appreciate it if you would move your applications to Beta 2 and verify that everything works as it did.

The documentation in the What's New contains notes on compatibility issues for each new feature. Please read them.

    Compatibility Notes

If you are migrating DataFlex 17.1 Web Framework applications that use manually loaded lists and grids you will need to deal with a n interface change. The improvements in those controls required a change to a struct and there are minor changes required to application code that directly manipulates that struct. The What's New has detailed instructions.

Client Web Services - Version 18.0 has significant changes in client web-service parsing and processing. If you are using client web services we would really value your testing feedback. Import some of your existing services and see what you get. Note that the new parser allows you to now create classes using a variety of options. Some of these options will result in class code changes, which may require other changes in your application.

Next, we'd like you to try out the new features. You can start by looking at the changes made to the Web Order sample and, of course, reading the What's New completely.

Please don't wait for a release candidate to start testing.

The sooner these changes are tested, the better. Please test and provide feedback.
