  1. Re: Source Control Repositories and Libraries

    Peter,

We have a single repository for all our libraries, but they are versioned within this repository. Like this:
    Libraries\SomeLibrary 1.0
    Libraries\SomeLibrary 1.1
    Libraries\SomeLibrary 2.0...

    Video/image capture ActiveX

I'm looking for an ActiveX control for capturing images from a web cam. We need to be able to view the video stream and press a button to take a snapshot.

    We are currently using Viscomsoft's...

Like Wil said, this is NOT Chilkat! I've had nothing but good experiences with Chilkat. The control I have problems with is a video capture ActiveX.

    Re: Chilkat 32bit and 64bit

And that's not all. When viewing the control in design mode in the studio, it requests a license. That's fine, but what does it do if you don't give it one? Kills the current process, aka the Studio....

    Wil,

Yes, I've just come across this. In the latest version the vendor has helpfully rearranged all procedures so the interface numbers are different. They have even been so helpful as to have...

Re: Bug in Function_Return And ByRef

    Frank,

You were perfectly clear, but in our case it was not always the byref variable itself that was corrupted so I thought it might still be the same issue.
Since the byref isn't needed at all...

Re: Bug in Function_Return And ByRef

    Vincent,

I know it's not wrong, we actually often do it even when it's not strictly needed because it can help convey the programmers intentions.

Re: Bug in Function_Return And ByRef

    Hi Frank,

We had some sporadic byref issues in older DF revisions, which disappeared when we initialized the variable prior to the call. That might be a workaround for you case as well.

    Of...

That's good, when we looked at this about 5 years ago there were 2 tiers. One free, with a limited amount of queries (50k per year IIRC). One paid, with unlimited queries. Price, 100k . =)

    Re: Ambiguous functions warning

Several of my colleagues prefer to use expressions over Get, since it can give fewer lines of code. I usually use Get since it's easier for debugging, when you can inspect a variable before use.

Ok, that's pretty nasty. I assumed you reported this? And got the answer it won't be fixed? If so, that's crazy... You don't give a compile time warning for what is an obvious runtime bug...

Well, the code is 10+ years old, returns the correct value in DF20 and has done so in every earlier version it's been part of. Your basically telling me the below can fail:

In this case, the code is perfectly safe. There are multiple functions with the same name and different return types yes, but the correct one will always be called. It's just that the compiler does...

    Re: VPE Note printing

This got me concerned, so I checked what the VPE Programmers Manual said:

The last line is in both the 6.x manual and the 7.x one, so it's probably not high on the implementation list.
