    Re: DataFlex in the cloud#$%#$%

    Marco/Rachael

Even with an sql database, you want to ensure that your DB server is reasonably co-located with your application server, in my experience at least.

    Move "" to sVal
    Move (yourFuncName(AddressOf(sVal)) to ...

    I think!

    Re: RESTful Service API Framework

Just an additional couple of technical points:

In the contacts table, the relationship is from Contacts.Customer --> Customer.Customer_Number. That is referenced by Index.2 (Index.1 is...

    Re: RESTful Service API Framework

    Clive

OK, let's deal with the "what I am hoping to achieve" bit first.

The REST Library assumes that you will have a structure that basically first lists the items for a given resource (say...

  11. Re: StringifyUtf8 in expression throws an error

    Andrew

Yes, it might well be related. Certainly the recommendation is to always use Get for all but Global functions.

What I am really fussed about it the fact that sometimes it works and...
  12. StringifyUtf8 in expression throws an error

Why does StringifyUtf8 in an expression throw an error? Stringify doesn't. Am I missing something, or is this just a "That's just the way it is" situation?

    Re: cJsonHttpTransfer

    Personally I'd either:

    Set psContentTypeExpected to ""
    Not use cJsonHttpTransfer

    Re: cJsonHttpTransfer

    Todd

Well, no, in "real" life there is no difference (at least AFAIK), but obviously if you compare them via "=" the answer is, pedantically, False!

Basically text/json is the older way and...

Re: Pagination in the REST API

    Clive

I actually built a way to do something like this into my RESTLibrary, but without checking quite a bit I can't remember the exact mechanism...

    It was something like:

    You know the guy? ;)
  17. Re: What to things in cHttpTransfer actually do?

    OK, for future-proofing...

    Would:

Procedure Set BasicAuth String sUsername String sPassword
    String sCreds
    Address pCreds
    Integer iVoid
  18. Re: What to things in cHttpTransfer actually do?

    Harm

Yes, in the past, for Basic Auth, I have added the Authorization header manually, but I thought I was actually doing the same thing as setting psUsername and psPassword, but from what you say...

  20. What to things in cHttpTransfer actually do?

Can somebody who has access to the runtime internals (I'm thinking Harm, but it could be somebody else), tell me what the following properties of the cHttpTransfer class actually do?

My personal feeling about this is that the cJsonHttpTransfer class is a mistake. I had already done a lot of work with JSON before it was introduced and as a consequence have almost never used it...
