    Re: SPACE function

You can use a formula to change the horizontal position of the field. Tale the length of the account code (1,2,3,4,5) and set the xOffset to be (base + Length * indent)

    Re: SPACE function

If you need a non-trimmable space for the first character (chr(255)) usually works. " "

    Re: Performance Test - MySQL

I'm not sure how this translates over to mySQL but MSSQL really appreciates it if you "rebuild statistics" after doing a data load. Sometimes the Query Parser gets stupid if the statistics are out...
  4. Re: Limiting Dataflex Instances to 1 per Laptop?

Mutex is the word you're looking for.

    Re: Performance Test - MySQL

    Yes. What Anders said.

The embedded DB is bindingly fast for these kind of tests, when there is only one user, and a local DB. When you have TWO users, and the database on a a separate server,...
  6. Re: Aggravating Short Sighted Design Decision in Embedded SQL.

I don't care if there is a limit, I care that the system "out of the box" has a standard technique that will quietly truncate data, and not assert an error condition.

    Re: MSSQL optimizations

After batch loading the data, make sure you run "EXEC sp_updatestats;" to make sure the optimizer has valid data to work from.
  8. Re: Aggravating Short Sighted Design Decision in Embedded SQL.

    No Mike,

I'm reading Base64 encoded ASCII data, but it's a variable length. DF is imposing a limit in EMBEDDED SQL so it's entirely restricted to the SQL database set.

    The language is just...
  9. Aggravating Short Sighted Design Decision in Embedded SQL.

I was trying to export the images from a signature field where the data is stored in base64, and comes from Harm's wrapper of the signaturepad js control. The export worked in about 70% of the...

I did it for you, I just forwarded you his reply...

  11. Re: Local variable initialization problems too

    well written discussion Oliver. Thanks!

    Me too!
  12. Re: Read only DB attribute is not handled in Studio.

I have no idea what it does, as it does not match the documentation.
  13. Re: Can we do Calculated (read only) Columns in MSSQL yet?

    Thanks Samuel,

that does actually work, you just have to go the long way around, and directly edit the INT file for the table.

  14. Read only DB attribute is not handled in Studio.

    https://support.dataaccess.com/Forums/showthread.php?67762-Can-we-do-Calculated-(read-only)-Columns-in-MSSQL-yet

It should not be necessary to directly edit the int file to set this attribute, it...
  15. Can we do Calculated (read only) Columns in MSSQL yet?

We store addresses in a "Broken out" format for reasons.

I want to have a (complex) formula to generate the address1 address2 address3 lines for USA addresses,

    so simplified address1 =...

    Re: Process control

The word you're looking for is Mutex.

    https://www.dataflex.wiki/index.php?title=Run_only_one_instance_of_your_application

    This should help.
  17. Re: Changes I made to enhance my WebApp security

I'd imagine that this just prevents the password from begin auto-filled, not from it being saved... If the user goes to "show passwords" in the browser settings, the password is probably there...
  18. Re: And another reason to switch to DF20

Feel free. I invented it just for this story. :-)

I don't even remember what the original test account password was, just that it had a blasted glyph in it.

  19. And another reason to switch to DF20

I was going to post this in Unicode-amp-64-Bit-Applications but then I decided I'd post here.

Today I had a bug ticket cross my desk that "Active Directory Sign in" was failing, on a new install...

Yep. You've been misled all these years. It's handled exactly the way you step through it in the debugger.

Re: .sws files: add [cfgfile] section

You could step up your Build Script Game.

In house we developed a "proper" build script that checks out all the source code from GIT, and then edits the config file for each .SRC, so they all...

    Re: DFTimer versus cTimer

I don't know. At least not for definite. Hence in my cTimer objects I have this

    Set pbEnabled to False
    // Actually do the things.

    Re: DFTimer versus cTimer

    @Russel,

I think Julie knows that DFTimer is obsolete, hence the question. I'd imagine she's so far down this rabbit hole right now that she made the easy mistake of typing the wrong class name...
  24. Re: Use RDS reports Michael, they're Great Michael. Not!

It is also buried deep in the help, where searching the index is of little use.

    - fixed that for you.
  25. Re: Use RDS reports Michael, they're Great Michael. Not!

I was a little impaired during your presentation. I'll need to look that up again.
