  1. Re: How to fill in questionnaire in interactive PDF from DataFlex

    Franta,

I wrote a DLL that takes a View in the SQL database, and uses that to populate the PDF. I'd imagine that might come close. If you email me the PDF you're tying to fill I can test it for...

    More Joy with UTF-8

I interface with a dumber terminal that is ASCII only, but the users recently discoverd they could use extended characters (utf-8) in their windows logins. My DF is usually fine with this, but this...
  3. What is this UTF-8 of which you speak

Randomly this Video popped up oin my Youtube home page. It's a clear explanation of the what and why of UTF-8

  4. Re: UUID, can it be smaller than 36 characters and still be a valid and unique randomly created ID?

it's not hard to "roll your own" you could just use a simple counter, and base64 encode it, start with a 10 digit seed number and increase by 11 or 13 each time.

Make a temp table during the...

    Re: 19.1 help and SigCj.chm

    Thanks.

Now for the secret bit, what did you do in the dataflex help to make it see Developer1.chm if it's there?
I'm hoping there is a way to allow help in the "instrument.chm" to be included...

    Re: 19.1 help and SigCj.chm

    Stephen,

Did you post somewhere the dark magic you use to incorporate external help files into the main help system?

I've a need to add a multitude of "Instrument" help packages, where many...

    Re: Crystal XI and VDF19.1

    @Marco

With your data in SQL, which method do you use to connect to the data, since ODBC can't store the password in a DSN any more?

I've a very annoying customer Not using active Directory, so...

    Re: Horizontal Position question

in the functions lookup box there are position and distance functions. You need to specify the units to convert to whatever DR uses for positioning TWIPS maybe( 1/1440 of an inch?)
    so

    Re: Multi-line strings

    so you broke it then...

    :-)

Since it's only inside Att-ed strings, I guess I shouldn't find fault with that.

    Re: Multi-line strings

In Dataflex I Expect !a-z to be compiler variables that behave as compiler variables. Are you saying you've broken this?

    Find in Files results.

How hard would it be to add a sort function to the Find Results dialog?

In particular I'd like to see the file names (the collapsed list) being sorted.

I'd also like an Object Explorer view...

the thing about finding at the bottom, and moving up, is that the rest of the references are still right, even if you've added or removed a line as you go. Say you're converting if (foo) DoThis into...

Actually, no I'm not sure. That might be a useful thing to check.

Now, how do I do that?

    Re: Studio Find Dialog

it's summarized by file, If you're code-reviewing you want to actually look at every line you find. so you have a lot of little + boxes to click the one "Expand all" button on the toolbar.
  18. Re: How do I allow the user to filter a grid on arbitaty columns?

Same as always, build a filter and add it to the appropriate DD.

Use a context menu to add stiff like "Filter to current value"

    Re: Application Map Tool

I used redgate SQLDoc to document an MSSQL database which worked really well. For your application, I think Mertech does this as a service. They have a tool to do it that they used to sell, but...
  22. Re: Sudden change in access times to MSSQL.

write a loop that uses your "normal" connect to database and read an item procedure.
    Loop 10 million times.

    Watch for leaks.
  23. Re: Sudden change in access times to MSSQL.

[Solved] I was creating a Statement Handle and not destroying it afterwards. For a few thousand cycles it wasn't noticeable bit after 10,000 or so db hits it got stupid.
  24. Sudden change in access times to MSSQL.
