    make sure to always specify where to create files when creating files. often the working directory can be the programs folder and then files without path will be created there

    works on standalone also. just tested to make sure. compiled and ran a program, renamed the exe while running and then renamed it back

    if you try to copy a file over first then rename will not...

    we use an automated system in some installations

    each workstation has its own copies of the EXE.
    each program has a version number compiled in and the current version numbers are on the network...

    thats why i mentioned that this could happen 10 times in one day if for some reason the webapp or webapp server is restarted or it could not happen at all for weeks or months

    depending on several things this could happen multiple times a day or not at all for weeks or months.

    in df apps we store the connection string encrypted in a config file. the app reads and decrypts

    on AWS we store the conenction string encrypted in the parameter store.
