    Re: Some DF2020 library previews

    Sture,

Oh, that was a scenario I didn't even consider. In that case I suggest to look at the cFileSystem class as it is cleanest.

The reason I'm releasing this early is, obviously because of...

    Some DF2020 library previews

    Hi,

As part of The Hammer 4.0 DataFlex 20 compatibility project I have upgraded two of the libraries it depends on.
Those libraries are now available as a preview for testing purposes only.
    I'm...

    Re: Multi Lingual Applications.

    Sure. Sounds even better.

Note though that some texts in your views will not be directly tied to a visual control.

    Re: Multi Lingual Applications.

    Ahh OK, gotcha.

You would basically just have to identify the view/dialog you are in and show a grid with the translations for that view after pressing a certain shortcut key (or choosing a menu...

    Re: Multi Lingual Applications.

    Michael,

Yeah, you are correct in pointing out that the method in the Hammer has those shortcomings.
It is not bad though and certainly has some nifty ideas in there.

    I'm not exactly following...

    Re: Multi Lingual Applications.

    Michael,

I've used a few multilingual designs over the years.
What I can share.. is already available:

    The Hammer 3.0 is multilingual

    Re: Command Get_Foreign_Profile_String is broken

    OK... tracked this one down.

It is the Set_Foreign_Profile_String in the Hammer that causes this.

Will add a little reproducable proggie in a minute.

    Command Get_Foreign_Profile_String is broken

    Hi,

Seems this command is not even marked as obsolete?
At least the all of the #WarningEx lines are commented out in Pkg\Registry.pkg

I'm getting this result in some Hammer code.

  11. Re: Windows API wrappers and the state of brokenness

    Frank,

Of course I cannot make a statement for your source code base as I am completely unfamiliar with it, but for me it seems more logical to try and address this at the DataFlex level. If you...

    Hi,

Well you gotta have to try it not?

So I have this wonderful program:

  13. Re: Windows API wrappers and the state of brokenness

Sure you can add another layer of indirection, but I fail to see how that simplifies things.
Certainly when looking at it from a long term perspective.

  14. Re: Windows API wrappers and the state of brokenness

    Frank,

But that only works if you have the source of all the components that you use?

FWIW, the treeview issue in The Hammer 4 with DataFlex 20 has been resolved.
    It was a widestring...
  15. Re: Windows API wrappers and the state of brokenness

    Frank,

    Yep.

I did recompile The Hammer version 4 in DF20 and was surprised that it compiled just fine after a minor changes.

The custom file open dialog that we use in there no longer...
  16. Re: Windows API wrappers and the state of brokenness

    Hi Harm,

    Thanks for the reply.
Sorry, yes this is about writing DLL wrappers, not the existing Windows API as DAW has wrapped most of the windows API using the available widestring versions. The...
  17. Windows API wrappers and the state of brokenness

    Hi,

I'm still working through documentation, read most of it, but skimmed through other parts, so my understanding might still be off a bit, but after some more experimentation it looks like to me...

Re: Feature request: NOT all your source is UTF-8

    Marco,

The source does not have to be in UTF-8, it compiles fine if it is in OEM.
(I just tried that, just to confirm)
