    well first, I don't think Server 2003 is a supported OS, so that may be an issue, second is make sure you install as a 'network accessible' instance, and it shouldn't use appdata for anything...

    Maybe you could parse out the actual name of the temp folder used in %temp% because that will have the Volatile Environment ID for this session in it, usually temp\3\

    you can read your UTF8 string into a uChar array, and then parse it, once you know the rules for the string..
