    Re: NotePad++ native DataFlex support

No worries, not in a hurry.

Just wondering what I should add/change/fix before submitting a pull request to the Notepad++ folks.
As the official scintilla control with DataFlex support isn't out...

Anybody wants to comment on the good and/or bad for the native DataFlex support in NotePad++

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

    Hi,

It's not about checking... there is no simple "do this to protect your network shares" recipe.

What I am trying to say is to not access files via a network share from your webapp host....

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

    Mike,

Yes locking down SMB will help a bit, but there's a HUGE difference between opening SMB to a web host and opening a database server port.
When you open your database server to be connected...

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

LOL, I think we are going to disagree on this one.

Once you open the network for lateral movement all bets are off once your web host is compromised.

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

    Hi,

Happy to hear it works for you and it doesn't matter much, but it is pretty much what I said as the last sentence in my initial reply.

So please be aware of the security implications of the...

    Re: New REST support

    Hi Edgar,

There's some doc, but it isn't always where you expect it to be and the client side part is brief.

    Create a REST service:
    Look at cWebHttpHandler

    Consume a REST service:

    Hello Mike,

Of course I am aware about your work on this area and it is on my list to look into it, so yes I would appreciate to have a look at what you have made available.

    Re: New REST support

    Thanks Mike,

    Good stuff.
I was just writing it out to signal to DAW that there's not a lot of doc on this part and that it is not very discoverable.
It wasn't a "cry for help", but I...

    Re: New REST support

    Hi Chuck,

I was mostly looking at the client side, for which the documentation is - to put it mildly - quite sparse.
Agree that there is reasonable documentation on the server side.

    Using...

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

    Hi Jorge,

If you don't want to redesign then my suggestion would be to use WebDAV instead of SMB.
You'd still have a file share similar to normal network shares, but the difference is that WebDAV...

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

    Hi,

Note that IF your webapp is internet facing that having a web application with direct access to a network share generally is considered a very bad choice from a security point of view.

    New REST support

    Hi,

So I figured to look at the new REST support in DataFlex 19.1.
I must be a bit thick, because there's not a lot to find about it.

Put in "REST" in the index of the help.... No results....

That actually makes perfect sense as I had only compiled a 32 bits version of notepad++, my bad.

  17. Re: jBase - byRefs, and Memory pointers, active x control typelibs

    Hi,

From the declaration in the wrapper packages, Capturing, returning and returnlist are all "ByRef" variables, so they can return data.
In your call you are not using them as ByRef.

    Eg. it...

    PMJI,

That doc would even be better if it mentions that the description is displayed in the .wso and .wso?WSDL
