Re: DRREports 7 and Com Manifest Builder

manifests are not designed for .net assemblies

if they were why would they be used in DataFlex which is obviously not a .net assembly

manifests are designed to support both managed as well as...

    Re: Dot notation

dot notation doesnt force early binding.

DF is not late bound either. It is somewhat of a mess in between

loop all open db files and record their state as well as other important information such as alias/master flag

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

you never open just everything. You only open what is needed. Of course like i said if you assign admin users to your services then you will have issues.

your database is on the network as well....
  5. Re: [DR6] Null Dates as possible YAFR if not yet in the list

yeah thats a pretty bad choice in the design of DR.

also terrible with the inconsistent date handling throughout the product

another reason to stay with VPE and/or List & Labels for reporting

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

there is nothing wrong with this at all. Well maybe with the exception of using a admin user for the web service or in general not creating a user that only has the needed rights to the needed...
  7. Re: [DR6] Null Dates as possible YAFR if not yet in the list

it used to be an issue in office up to 2013 i believe and also MS Access. Not a bug really but rather a design choice

of course today nothing important should rely on these old things any longer

Re: Copy file to a folder on the network

it is simply a permissions issue

when running a webapp you can specify the user under which the app is running. In case of DataFlex WebApp this user would be the one running the webapp service. ...
  10. Re: Class Jason parser cannot parse big integer bigger that 2147483647

did a test and yes indeed that is a serious issue with the DF parser.
looks like df internally sees it as a number (no quotes around) and limits it to a 32bit signed int.
    dont think there is any...
  11. Re: Class Jason parser cannot parse big integer bigger that 2147483647

the max value for a 32bit signed int is indeed 2147483647. The min value is -2147483648

in order to get the full range of an int you would need to go to an unsigned int. Not sure if that will work...

    Re: New REST support

    Wil

this is old and starts out with building a REST service in dot net but then calls it from DF.

not much but something to get you started. calling REST apis is very simple really

Re: What happens to the object?

problem of course is that none of the documentation tells you that. Mike being a seasoned experienced df developer thought about it but most people will of course not

doc will help a little but it...

because DF is using object ids sequentially another test could be to check the next created object id.

Re: What happens to the object?

df doesnt have garbage collection or scope for objects or anything like it so getting it to a variable vs getting it in an expression would not make a difference

Re: What happens to the object?

    2 options

    1) it stays behind
    2) it automatically gets destroyed when the document gets destroyed

guessing 1 but you could test it by changing your code to get the member to a variable. after...
  21. Re: Suggestion, when Dataflex table'column expand more 255 field

i would seriously rethink the design. you shouldnt need that many columns in a table

probably need to convert that into multiple rows
  22. Re: Question about working with Git And Dataflex

with DF referencing fields and indexes by sequential number there isnt going to be an easy way to do this without avoiding conflicts.

for non DF projects we use liquibase as well as dot net data...
