    Re: dbGrid dissection

    Hi Chuck,
Probably a good idea. The grid object itself contains 1450 lines of code, tough to keep track of it all. I sometimes wonder how the original programmer did...

    Re: dbGrid dissection

    Hi Peter,
Yeah I know about the cjGrids thanks, I converted one of these old dbGrids in this app to a cj but this one is a lot more complicated

    dbGrid dissection

I've got an old dbGrid that's working nicely but incredibly complex so converting to a cj grid really isn't an option or maybe it is but I really don't want to do it.

    So here's my question. The...

Thanks Wil, it does. Ya saved me some work, I was just going to test Garret's theory and found your posting.

    Re: Odd grid behavior

Yeah, a timing issue could make sense and bIsComObjectCreated could solve it and I guess I shouldn't ask why something as innocuous as 'Move "" to sXX' gives the grid fits...

    Re: Odd grid behavior

What I put in procedure clear_all doesn't matter. Remove it and all works. Put anything at all in procedure clear or clear_all and I get that error.

    Re: Odd grid behavior

I too have seen that but in this case augmenting procedure clear_all in the DD shouldn't have anything to do with the grid, operative word here being "shouldn't". I suppose I could put some code...

    Odd grid behavior

Given the following pseudo code, why does the addition of the line in red cause the error below? If I debug, I end up in cDbCJGridDataSource.pkg in the Ordering function and the server is 0. What...

I am so sorry to hear of Fernís passing. Like everyone else on the forum Iíve worked with him off and on over the years and he was always a pleasure to work with. in my case since the early 1980s.

    Re: Flickering

It turns out that there's a section in this old legacy code that I inherited that "sets permissions" on the grid and I just had to set the DD_NoEnter before that so the problem was timing. ...

    Re: Changing a dbComboform's values

In this case the record doesn't exist and what was being shown is the default value from the DD which might be why the behavior is different.

    Re: Changing a dbComboform's values

As it turns out this is a dbComboform so I had to leave the Set Field_Changed_Value, setting local_value by itself didn't inform the DD of the value
