    Re: POS User interfaces

Good point Dan. I coulda phrased that better. WinPrint is certainly more work than a WYSIWYG reporting tool - but in this instance it was indeed the right tool for the job. An 8.5x11 20 line...

    Re: POS User interfaces

I have a manufacturing customer who makes reamers - a tool used in machining to make a drilled hole smooth & accurate (think engine blacks & the like). Do not google "reamers"...........

Now if I'd suggested that, Bob would reply "Thanks for volunteering to do it Garret!"

The most recent one, though nut up to his usual speed standards:

    Re: WebApp.exe blocked by McAfee

McAfee (on my newest machine) quarantines all DF exes Web & Windows). I've had to exclude all my workspaces.

Sure would be nice to get this squared away - various A/V products have hated DF for...
  8. Re: Embedded SQL to insert records into MariaDB / MySql

I figured you'd tried that - but had to ask :). All my MySQL embedded SQL is with the Mertech driver & I've had no issues with doing inserts or deletes - though I did have to remove the spaces as...
  9. Re: Embedded SQL to insert records into MariaDB / MySql

Darn! I've had that space thing bite me with MySQL. Does the code work when run in the workbench?
  10. Re: Embedded SQL to insert records into MariaDB / MySql

Have you tried removing the spaces after commas?

Re: ASCII characters in studio editor

Ah - but Canada is officially bilingual. Well the US is (unofficially) too, but we won't admit it yet... ;)

    Re: Should_Save always True

Good point! I've seen blank records cause this - though I guess by definition they are orphans.

    Re: Should_Save always True

First thing I look for in this situation is to find where my code is changing a field value - whether a default of something calculated.

I'll admit that I've, on occasion, given up & set...
  16. Re: CodeMAST Validation in WEBApps - CB_CODE_DISLAY_CODE equivalent?

Well - simpler if using RDS. If using a DSN connection (which makes it more like CR) - you'll have the same issues.

Another method I forgot is to use a formula - which can often can be built by...
  17. Re: CodeMAST Validation in WEBApps - CB_CODE_DISLAY_CODE equivalent?

In DR, I do 100% RDS reports, so the find in DF code is simple. In Crystal, I most commonly use a view constrained to the type. There are also codes in CodeMast (US state names for example) that...

    Let's not start on jelly...

@ the comments here on how awful CodeMast/CodeType is - I must say I don't get it. Forgetting the "don't move 'em" issues, I pretty much treat 'em as regular tables. ...
  19. Re: CodeMAST Validation in WEBApps - CB_CODE_DISLAY_CODE equivalent?

I'm not Hendrik, but space is often an issue: an example for me is US States. "Connecticut" takes up a lot of space when "CT" is understood by people here. Same for "Netherlands" vs. "NL" - though...

    Re: debugger Question in Studio.

While I have used Bob's method on field_current_value & it does work (thanks Bob!) - having a pane active during debugging like the tables one for DDs would be hugely helpful.

Re: How to refind a disappeared view?

If the MDI container comes up & you just can't see a view, then the cascade option I mentioned has always worked for me. If it's the entire app, then the keyboard trick is what you need.

Re: How to refind a disappeared view?

You can also try Windows menu, Cascade or same menu Tile. That may well bring it back onto the visible area.

  24. Re: DF19.1 on Microsoft Surface Pro X with arm processor

It seems Stephen answered. Mine was indeed Intel & I wasn't aware of the difference. Seems odd, as the claims made on the Surface Pro have always been "just like a desktop".
  25. Re: DF19.1 on Microsoft Surface Pro X with arm processor

I wrote a DF windows program for the Surface 1 Pro - used by sales people @ conferences, where they could enter an order & use web services to send it back to the office. After they used it for...
