    Re: SQL Stored Procedure Question

Also, I am using recnums so this would not be available as I understand a table can have only one identity column which in this case is recnum.

    Re: SQL Stored Procedure Question

Yes, I was aware of the auto_increment. However, this cannot be done right away as we are just getting ready to convert the live data to SQL (testing phase now) and there are too many components...

    Re: SQL Stored Procedure Question

How is "Reread" and "Unlock" handled when "Updating" through an SQL statement. Does the Statement do this? Should one not do any updates through an SQL statement because of multi-user activity?

    Re: SQL Stored Procedure Question

DDs add a lot of overhead when updating thousands of records! Anyway, that is not an option right now.

    Re: SQL Stored Procedure Question

That is it way I was doing it originally, but we are updating around 16 to 20,000 records and was just trying to speed things up. So, I should probably put that part back on the DF side of things.

I am creating a stored procedure and need to increment a system file field (counter) and not sure if I am doing it correctly. This is what I have within my procedure:

    Re: Embedded SQL Date Question

Maybe it is better to be "safe than sorry"? Can use "DFDateToSQLDate" for conversion.

    ESQL Results Question

Is there any method to get the results of an ESQL? For example, when deleting records can you get the number of records deleted? Or, if updating records get the number of records updated?

    Re: Embedded SQL Date Question

Thanks Bob. Using MSSQL in Georgia, USA (we use US dates here as well:)). So, not converting should be fine.

    Embedded SQL Date Question

Is it necessary to convert a DF date to an SQLDate format (DFDateToSQLDate) when using ESQL? I have tested and it does not seem to matter whether it is converted or not. Am I missing something?

    Re: SQL Bulk Copy

Looks as if the best solution is to convert that embedded table to SQL then do an Insert statement to copy all the data.

How about an example of the SQL load format.

Also, found this test on the internet:

1 INSERT statement with 1000 VALUES: 2800 msec.
