Re: paXML and OEM encoding gotcha

The direct_output is just to demonstrate the problem. Binary mode doesn't change the encoding.

The problem I ran into was to use HttpPostAddrRequest with paXml without doing OEM->utf8.

    paXML and OEM encoding gotcha

    Hi all,

Just want to share a gotcha - I have a big xml node (could be a few MBs) and I need to "post" it to a web service. I used paXML to retrieve the address from the XML Node and "post" the...

    Re: Windows Notifications

You are talking about 2 different types of notifications.

    First type:
Notifu gives you a simple "System Tray Icon" notification, which can be easily done with the API call "Shell_NotifyIcon".

  4. Re: ProgressBar(s) only update after Process has completed

The moment you call "DoAdvance", it queues up a "Paint" event to the program's message queue, then you proceed to "sleep" for 3 seconds (suspending the current thread for 3 seconds).

    All the...
  5. Re: I bet this program doesn't do what you thing it does.

Thanks for the explanation. It is very informative.

Seriously this should be documented. Or at least do a "Sonny Falk" style blog post (kinda like under the hood, deep dive).

  6. Re: I bet this program doesn't do what you thing it does.

    Mike,

Just out of curiosity, how do you propose to sort a string array without using some sort of string comparison operation? Also when you do "ORDER BY" clause in a SQL statement on a string...
  7. Re: I bet this program doesn't do what you thing it does.

    Hi Wil,

When doing string comparison in VDF runtime, trailing spaces don't count.
    Therefore when you do

    String s1 s2
    If (s1=s2) ....
  8. Re: I bet this program doesn't do what you thing it does.

This is more troublesome than I originally thought

    Use UI

Function StrCompare String s1 String s2 Returns Integer
    If (s1<s2) Function_Return (lt)
    If (s1>s2) Function_Return (gt)
    ...
  9. Re: I bet this program doesn't do what you thing it does.

    Hi Wil,

If you are to sort a string array manually, you will have to do string comparison. A simple string comparison would be to compare the ASCII value for each character in both strings. If all...

    Hi Raveen,

It does help tremendously. I will have to ask IT for a newer version of an remote app server (the existing one is too old, Windows Server 2008R2) to start testing.

    Thanks,

    Frank...

    Stephen,

I did watch that video, in fact more times than I care to admit. If you watch that video carefully, when the tooltip popped up in the app, the app didn't lose focus. It appeared to me...
  12. Re: HOWTO: Fix RemoteApp losing focus and/or crashing due to z-index issue on Win10 Pro

    Hi Raveen,

Thanks for the heads up. I am trying to replicate the behavior you saw, however the only in-house "RemoteApp" server we have is a Windows Server 2008 R2. I published our own VDF 16.1...

    Re: UPX compression and DF19.1

Like I said, the bulk of the executable is now in the .rsrc section (Look up PE format in Google to learn about different sections in an executable), which is the resource section. Since you specify...

    Re: UPX compression and DF19.1

I did a quick test on VDF 16.1 vs DF 19.1 with Order Entry example. UPX 3.05w.

    The ratios are
    16.1 => 21.80% (as in 78.2% smaller)
    19.1 => 21.78%

Therefore the results are similar. The "new"...

Old commands missing in DF 19.1

    Hi all,

I am trying to compile our VDF 16.1 application to DF 19.1. There are small portions of the source code that were written in the DOS date (CM).
Having said that, it still compiles and...

Re: Status 4 errors with a weird fix

    Hello Leon,

Thank you for the reply. The status 4 error is now reproducible on the customer's machine at any time, so that kinda rules out the power fluctuation situation.

    It is definitely a...

    Hi Richard,

I think the customer said it's always been broken, but the exact reproducible steps were difficult to nail down. When they finally did nail down the steps, we could get it to happen...

Status 4 errors with a weird fix

    Hi all,

I apologize for the vague description of this post, however we can't quite identify exactly what the problem is. Here is as much details as I can give
