    Re: Winprint error

Oh, that was a typo. The error is that it accesses the 20.0 version, not the 20.1 version. Create the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Data Access Worldwide\DataFlex\20.0\Defaults.

    Re: Winprint error

    Stephen,

I've found the issue. 20.1 is trying to access HKLM\Softward\Data Access Worldwide\DataFlex\20.0\Defaults. If this key exists, the errors goes away.

    Winprint error

When I try to print a preview, I get an error (in Swedish) "Cannot find path" followed by "Cannot find Winprint Viewer's Window". This is in the call to WP_NewDocument in Winprint2.pkg, line 335....

    Internal Compiler Error

    Hi,

Several of our applications triggered an Internal Compiler Error, when VDFQuery was included. I've cut it down to a reproducible sample, which is attached.

The error in the sample is...

    Re: General Codejock question

Code jock have, at least in my experience, been really bad support wise. When we've hit bugs, they either don't reply at all (even though we are paying for support!), or the only option they give you...

    Re: Performance Test - MySQL

    Hi Eduardo,

Did you test with just one process accessing the data? If so, the embedded will beat anything since it can exclusively lock the data. To test it fairly you need to access the data...

    Re: MSSQL optimizations

So my take away so far is that you don't bother changing any settings in MSSQL or CK, just use the default settings. I would still be interested if anyone actually tested any changes and what results...

    Re: MSSQL optimizations

    Albin,

What I'm looking for is any changes to MSSQL and CK setting that can help. Of course embedded sql can help in specific cases, but as long as "normal" code has a big performance drop...

    MSSQL optimizations

We've started looking at migrating from Pervasive to MSSQL, and with the default settings it's a noticeable performance drop. So those of you that use MSSQL today, what settings have you had to tweak...

Re: Source Control Repositories and Libraries

    Peter,

We have a single repository for all our libraries, but they are versioned within this repository. Like this:
    Libraries\SomeLibrary 1.0
    Libraries\SomeLibrary 1.1
    Libraries\SomeLibrary 2.0...

Like Wil said, this is NOT Chilkat! I've had nothing but good experiences with Chilkat. The control I have problems with is a video capture ActiveX.

And that's not all. When viewing the control in design mode in the studio, it requests a license. That's fine, but what does it do if you don't give it one? Kills the current process, aka the Studio....

Re: Bug in Function_Return And ByRef

    Frank,

You were perfectly clear, but in our case it was not always the byref variable itself that was corrupted so I thought it might still be the same issue.
Since the byref isn't needed at all...

Re: Bug in Function_Return And ByRef

    Vincent,

I know it's not wrong, we actually often do it even when it's not strictly needed because it can help convey the programmers intentions.

Re: Bug in Function_Return And ByRef

    Hi Frank,

We had some sporadic byref issues in older DF revisions, which disappeared when we initialized the variable prior to the call. That might be a workaround for you case as well.
