Finding a Phone Number amongst alot of Phone Numbers
Hey all,
I have a list of Customer's in a table. They have to the potential to have up to 5 phone numbers. Is there a way I can use either A. a lookup and put in one number that searches all five fields. OR B. can i just use a form that will search all five and return their customer number? I would prefer a lookup but I am not sure if it can be done. As always you guys are a ton of help and I really appreciate it.

Yes.
You'll have to tweak it, for your SQL, and If it's not MSSQL you're sadly out of luck.
Enjoy.

I always thought the S in SOL stood for something else? :)
I agree that an SQL solution is the way to go.

Hi,
Do not underestimate the embedded.:p
If this is the case, simply create a bank-related phones, so it is not dependent on having 5 but infinite phones or addresses.
Best Regards,

Are you looking to return to a selected customer screen after the lookup?
Possible to have multiple customers with the same number?
Re: Finding a Phone Number amongst alot of Phone Numbers
Larry,
Not so much a screen. Just populate a few forms with information from that specific record. We found a way where we just look in each phone number field for the record looking for a match. This is probably "expensive" in terms of overheard on the server, but it works. Also have had no complaints of it being slow. The possibility of different customers is real but does happen. For that we have a checkbox for duplicate customers. We simply contrain out any records marked duplicate to get rid of the problem. Seems to be working so far.
