The feats of Stephen (see what I did there?)
(Wait - did the W stand for Wenceslas all this time?)
Not wishing to rub it in, but today is my last day in the office before I start my Christmas holidays. Much fun. Which is why I'm posting this now. As I understand things - not that understand much these days - when I return to work in the new year, a certain young Mr. Stephen Meeley will have started a well earned retirement. So, before I go into hibernation, I just wanted to post something on here, to wish him all the very best, and to say a big thank you for his help and support over however-long-it-was.
Stephen - I shall miss you. I've always enjoyed your company at the bar and your taking the <insert suitable word here> out of me. And you, sir, are an excellent presenter. Yours will be difficult shoes to fill. I sincerely hope that our paths shall cross again, as I still owe you an Ozujsko (or two). In the meantime, no doubt we will stay in touch via the medium of social media. I hope we do.
All the very best.
Now, over to everyone else, who will hopefully have some good anecdotes to embarrass you with. :)
Re: The feats of Stephen (see what I did there?)
I was unaware that Stephen was retiring!
I am so happy for you Stephen and will definitely miss all that you bring to this forum, the live presentations and the Dataflex platform in general. Well done!
Re: The feats of Stephen (see what I did there?)
Me too and I agree.
All the best to you Stephen!

Peter,
We'll always have Paris...

Or was that Reykjavik, or Edenborough, or Miami, or Dallas, or The Bahamas, or Atlanta, or Seattle, or...
And no, I'm not letting you off the hook for the Ožujsko. In fact, I find it practically impossible to root properly for Croatia without it, so if they get eliminated, that's on you!

I was unaware that ANYBODY retired.... not sure my Mrs wants me at home full time, I manage to be in the way when I WFH, that and she keeps finding things for me to do.
I'll join you in wishing Stephen a happy retirement, his hardly-ever-sarcastic guidance will be missed.

Interesting, Carson City doesn't rate a mention. Someone must have a 'this never happened, we were never here' anecdote.
Re: The feats of Stephen (see what I did there?)
No slight intended - I'm pretty Peter wasn't around in the Carson City days. There are a number of places I left off (hence the or... at the end).
Onward!

Carson City was great once you managed to get there ...
Happy Retirement SWM. You will be missed. You were there when I first started in DataFlex in the dark ages.
You should go visit JT and swap retirement stories.

I'm sure nobody will read it as a slight, though Carson has its 'charms'. As one of the (other) Brits at the bar described it "I've never been to Dodge City, just here to dodgy city"

1995. Dataflex For Windows. My earliest memory of SWM was a very young man, with black hair!, demonstrating how DF for Windows would run on Win 3.1 AND win 95, and no code change or re-compile needed. At the Sheraton Hotel at Exit 10 of the NJ turnpike.
Fun Times.
