Chrome and saved password
Hi all,
In our webapp (DF19.0), Google Chrome gives the users the option to save their login details. When they do this, it seems like many other webforms are being filled automatically with their login details (login id). For example we have a "global" search form in our webapp, and that search form (cWebForm) is automatically filled with their login id.
If we go in to the Chrome settings and remove the saved passwords for our webapp, this all goes away.
Is there any way we can prevent this from happening? It is quit annoying that the user id is filled out in various places.
Thanks
Re: Chrome and saved password
I don't think there is anything you can do about this. We use an application written in Angular and it does the same thing. It fact it happens in fields other than passwords including some address fields if they are remembered. The vendor says they can't do anything about it. I expect the same with DF as JavaScript underlies the webapp stuff. Happy to be wrong though :)

Re: Chrome and saved password
Hi Richard,
OK I see, it's good to know that it isn't a DF issue, but it's unfortunate to hear that we can't do anything about it :-)
Any idea why this happens? I mean, saving the password and login id really shouldn't fill out other forms, right?
Have a nice weekend!
Re: Chrome and saved password
Chrome tries to figure out which fields it can auto fill, by looking at input name, placeholder, label and surrounding text. It is not so clear, at least not to me, what exactly the logic is. There is an HTML-attribute 'autocomplete' where you could turn it off, but apparently this is not respected by Chrome anymore.
In Chrome you can turn the feature off though. For some endusers this might be OK. (Settings, autofill)
Re: Chrome and saved password
Except that, for some sites, autofill is really handy.

Re: Chrome and saved password
I didn't like any of these 'solutions' though.
Re: Chrome and saved password
Hi all,
This is a timely thread as we are trying to track this down at the moment as well in DF19.0. It appears to only happen with Chrome and only noticed for the last 3-4 months (maybe) and only if save passwords is set on and only if you accept the autofill login name. If you over type the login name with the same value then it is fine.
In our case, after a successful login (using the autofill defaults) it then autofills the login name into the 'last' field on every panel subsequently accessed in the Webapp regardless of what the field actually is. Obviously this is a pain as we are getting random user names being saved into a field in the database if the operator does not notice it. We have had to put field validation on those fields to prevent that from happening.
At the moment our advice to the customer is when asked to save the login details for the WebApp choose 'Never' and always enter the login name and password each time.
I have googled 'chrome autofill faults' and not found anything useful, but will keep my eye on this thread to see what eventuates.

Re: Chrome and saved password
We discourage the use of browser saving and recommend LastPass password manager. It is more secure and encourages the use of high strength passwords. There is a free version which has all the features most people need and can be shared between multiple users.
I have noticed that the most recent version gives manual filling control rather than making all the decisions itself or at least it does in Chrome which is my preferred browser. Perhaps this is because of these problems.
