We're currently testing the new DR26.0 and going through the help for the What's new section. I noticed that the navigation buttons are gone in DR26.

What happened to them? The navigation buttons were extremely useful for reading through the what's new section.
Cheers,

Working on getting a CRW report converted to DR. My CRW selection formula uses the "startswith" selection, the main reason this is useful is that the "E" selection is for error, and is a actually a 2 digit field and can have multiple error codes such as "E1", "E2"..."E9" each meaning there was an error for a different reason. I can't find a similar selection for DR, am I missing it and just not finding it?

I've been creating new DR reports from old DF 3.x reports for that past few months while updating an old XP system. Instead of using DDs I've been creating SQL scripts which has been working very well but unfortunately some of DR does not lend itself well for this. For example:

1. When creating a DR RDS report from the DF Studio, we need the ability to enter ad-hoc fields for CASE conditions or calculated fields that aren't in the DD. I'm sure there are other such needs. Yes, I can create them if I start in the DR Studio but there I have to manually type everything into the RDS table so I like using the DF studio for this. In the wizard (when called from the DF Studio) I have to either grab some field that I know isn't used and rename it or remember to add it later in DR. It would be so much easier to have the ability to simply add a blank field. Tonight I'm doing a report with 7 calculated fields in it and the Wizard is kind of useless so I had to stop and use the DR Studio. Also, there's a table that's not related in DF but which is relatable via SQL so there's 1 more field I have to kludge.

2. If we change the table name in "Edit RDS Table Definitions" the report needs to update all of the existing fields. It already does for summed fields, why not the rest? Doing this manually for 10 or more columns is a pain and waste of time.

3. The ability in "Runtime Data source Table" to reorder the fields would be great. i.e. move them up and down in the grid. On occasion I get them in one order and then decide to change them either to match the SQL or just because a different order makes sense. Deleting and adding them back in is currently the only way to make the change.

4. Make the icon for creating additional RDS tables a little more obvious. This icon is almost hidden, I know others have complained about it.

Bugs

1. Buglet - Create a DR report by starting in the DF-25 Studio under "New ReportView Wizard"
When complete and saved, the DR File Menu will show two reports in the File dropdown, note the file extensions
MyReport.dr
MyReport.DR
2. Page setup is shown in the report creation wizard in metric but in DR itself it's shown in inches.
I could be missing it but couldn't find any setup options for setting this to one or the other.

SQL for DR
If anyone wants to know how I've got this working with SQL, let me know. I find it so much easier to work with than with DF files and/or DDs. And ChatGPT does a pretty good job of creating the SQL from the old 3.x reports.

TIA,

2. Give the option to generate the JSON file when updating reports. When migrating old systems, where json files were not in Source control not having a way to generate the .json for > 100 reports is a HUGE pain in the butt.

3. Why does it care if it can not connect to the database? why is "can not connect to database followed by an illegal datatype conversion error?

4. Why does a batch process not have an error handler that can suppress and log that "illegal DataType Conversion" error without stopping the process? -In particular the batch processing of 'update to 26.0 format'?
