Toolchain 0.1.11+wasm-32.

I am running into a lot of issues with this:
I am running into a lot of issues with this:
<a href="https://support.dataaccess.com/Forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=18363&d=1792143603" title="Name: Screenshot 2026-10-16 at 10.37.38.jpg
So much so that it is stopping me making progress.

The app in the browser hangs and the debugger is running OK, but not hitting any breakpoints.

If I click "Pause", whether waiting for a while for it to respond, or doing it after a second or three, I get the above exception.

It happens outside the debugger too, but obvoiusly without the reported exception. Reloading the page gets me back.

I'm not at all sure what is going on...

So, checking the DevTools Console (running outside the debugger), I see:
But at no time does avResults (a 2-d Variant array) ever get anything in it. Neither do Get psLastError or Get piLastError help much. Anybody see what I'm doing wrong?

TechStack Runtime 0.1.11 is now available for both WebAssembly and Native projects. This release primarily improves runtime and debugger stability. It also includes an updated version of the studio with extensions to its debugging logic.

To update, install the new studio and switch your projects to toolchain 0.1.11. For WebAssembly projects, also update the WebAssembly Runtime package to version 0.1.11 so that the new runtime is installed in your AppHtml folder.

Download the new build here:
https://download.dataflex.dev/downloads/dataflex/techstack-2208

Changes in 0.1.11:

An empty or uninitialized string converted to Number or Decimal now yields 0.

A string converted to Boolean is False when it is empty, "0" or "False" in any letter case, and True otherwise. The same rule applies in If, Not, And and Or.

Date comparisons ignore the time of day, and Time comparisons ignore the date.

Variant values of different types compare correctly when they can be converted. Ordering values that cannot be compared raises an error that Try/Catch can handle.

Copying a Variant array now copies its elements, and the memory they hold is released with the array.

Passing a value of the wrong type to a Struct or Array parameter raises a conversion error.

BigInt values in conditions use the full 64-bit value on 32-bit toolchains.

An overloaded function can now be called outside an expression, and it checks the number of arguments passed.

Arguments passed by reference arrive intact when a call is made deep in a chain of nested calls.

The compiler now reports an error in the right-hand operand of an expression.

Compiled programs now carry the type information for their arrays and structs, which Reflection and the debugger read.

The DataFlex Interop API can read array type information and create and inspect structs from native libraries.

The WebAssembly toolchain installs the external class factory module that external-class interop needs.

Read_Line returns the complete line when a line is longer than its initial buffer.

A native cHttpClient request with an empty body now sends a zero-length body, so a reused client no longer sends the body of a previous request.

A WebAssembly debug session always loads the newly compiled program instead of a copy from the browser cache.

A breakpoint can be set on the last command of a WebAssembly program.

A checksum is added to the flx and the debug symbols (.dbg) allowing the debugger to verify it is debugging the code that was last compiled.

Problem with JsonToDataType in WASM runtime

I have a big lump of struct data on the server that I want to transfer to the WASM client. It takes a very short time for the (DF26) web service to...

I have a big lump of struct data on the server that I want to transfer to the WASM client. It takes a very short time for the (DF26) web service to prepare, convert to JSON using DataTypeToJson, then Stringify prior to sending it to the client with OutputString.

On the client it arrives (as a string, obviously), is converted back into JSON with ParseString - again, this is all very quick.

However when I then try to use JsonToDataType to move it back into struct data - an identical struct to the one on the server that it was originally in[*] - the runtime hangs, just waiting. I've given it up to 10 minutes and no joy. It was originally ~2Mb, but I've cut it down (with various measures) to 26Kb in case the size was a problem in the browser environment, and the problem persists, so I don't think that's it.

The only special thing I can see is that it has a 2-d array of strings (String[][]) as part - the biggest part in fact - of the struct (it was a 2-d array of structs, but I took that out as part of reducing its size).

I think JsonToDataType is broken in WASM in this regard, although I have to say that I'm using it all over the place with other data and it is working perfectly. No 2-d arrays elsewhere that I'm awae of, so I'm thinking that is the problem. I've tried doing the same thing in DF26 and it happens too fast to easily measure.

I've tried it both in and out of the debugger - same problem.

I don't think I'm doing anything stupid, but with me you never know. ;) Maybe I'll do some more specific testing in the WASM workspace and post the results.

I'm not at all clear on whether to use Set/Get or WebSet/WebGet for properties (and obviously whether they should be declared as WebProperties) in the context of the WASM runtime, since there is - as I currently understand it - no client/server round trip involved. Set/Get is much easier to manage (delegation, get in functions, etc.), but long Web practice has me instinctively reching for WebSet/WebGet.

Could somebody enlighten me?

get rid of fixed channels limitations..

and specially faster

I am developing a long BP here (DF 25), that will perform thousand of transactions (each transaction may have from 3 to 5 complex statements to run) .
Without logging, it takes around 40min to run.

Just by adding a single log line (Log_Status) for each transaction, it almost double the execution time.. it takes more than 1h.. IT's too much waste just for logging...
No, Close_Always_State is not enabled..

I would appreciate if in the new runtime we have access to a better way of handling inputs/output more efficiently.

Thanks in advance

Hi TeamTS :D

Using the WASM toolchain, how can I create an in-memory SQL database in Local Staorage without the use of DDs and Entities? I can dynamically create DDs, but I don't know if (or how) to do the same with Entities. Is there a Get Create (RefEntity(eXYZ)) to heMyEntity type syntax? Or if not, how do I do it? I've been digging into the code samples I have, but have not managed to work it out yet and would benefit from an explanation.

Mike

PS: OK, there is a Create (RefEntity(eXYZ)) to heMyEntity syntax, but I don't know how to use it. :(
