I'm at my wit's end.

I'm trying to export a Dataflex Report to Excel. The problem is that I actually expect it to look at least somewhat like the DR preview.
But no matter which parameters I tweak, it doesn't get any better—if anything, it gets worse.

The column width in the default export options is way too narrow. Wider text fields are split across multiple narrow columns.
Other columns aren’t merged, so they’re way too narrow. Columns with large numbers overlap because the column width is too small.

So I change the column width and increase it incrementally by 10 units up to 100. And what changes? Nothing. Except that once it reaches a certain width, the first column gets swallowed up and is no longer visible at all.

Combinations with “Export Data only,” “Native Excel Data Types,” and the sections do not improve the result. Everything remains the same (bad).

Can we have the ability to change the parameter order like crystal. At the moment they are displayed in alphabetical order in the DR studio, and in code they are loaded into a struct array in the order they were defined in.

It's important for us and our end users to be able to change the order.

In our reports we have set of functions that we set in code when the report is run, we group these together at the top of list by prefixing the name with an underscore. Can this be changed so it's allowed in DR, it's better than using a "Z"

I have a report where I import the same subreport twice. The subreport has a function that I update in code when I run the report. This all works fine, and the updated function is displayed in both subreports correctly.

Until.. the subreport is one that a user can change, so when the report is run I am reimporting the subreports, the import works as I changed the colour of the subreport on disk and both subreports have this colour, but the function of the second subreport is not updated and the function of the first subreport is updated twice. I believe this is because after the reimport the subreports end up with the same report id.

I know the report id's are GUID's but for simplicity...

If I don't reimport the report id's are

Main Report: 123
Sub Report 1: 456
Sub Report 2: 789

If I reimport the id's become

Main Report: 123
Sub Report 1: 456 -> 555
Sub Report 2: 789 -> 555

Note 555 is the report id of the sub report on disk. When the subreport is imported inside DataFlex reports the report id is reallocated. This is not the case when the reimport happens in code as you can see above.

I'm writing a report that needs to use the NumberToWords function. The help shows the function's purpose, syntax and simple example. It does not say anything about having to do an ELF for it. But since I'm getting an error that says NumberToWords isn't defined I'm guessing that I do need to do the ELF thing?

If so and not being a "C" programmer, any hints? Do I need to compile a C project for this? The help seems to say so. What I would really want is CurrencyToWords but I'll take what I can get.

I want to export a Dataflex report, but I don't know yet which file format to use.
So, after the report starts, I just want the export dialog to appear, which I can then fill in with the necessary data to export the report.
So I set “Set peOutputDestination to PRINT_TO_FILE” and run the report with “Send RunReport of oReportTest”. This launches the export dialog. Unfortunately, you can’t enter anything until you switch to another program and then jump back.
If I replace RunReport with “Send ExportReport of oReportTest C_drXLS2003 ‘ ’”, an error message appears saying that I haven’t entered a destination filename.

Can anyone show me how to do this?

When I convert an embedded report to an SQL report using managed connections, the table location has the schema and table name as per below. But when I create a new report for the same SQL database the table location has the database name before the schema. Is this a bug? As I can't create a new connection without the database name in the table location.

When I run a report based on a SQL database from a DF application, is the same user SQL connection session?

Could a local temp table created in a DF application be accessible when the DF Report runs.

Types of Temporary Tables

  • Local Temporary Tables:
    • Scope: Visible only to the current user connection/session.
    • Naming (SQL Server): Prefixed with a single hash (#), e.g., #UserTemp.
    • Lifespan: Dropped automatically when the session is closed or the stored procedure that created it finishes.

When add an SQL database source using Managed Connections, I can't change the connection name like DNS less. It seems to get the database name which is very misleading as it represents the server and then shows it's databases.

In crystal we have reports with CDO tables with code generated data, that then link to other tables which could be SQL or embedded. Is this not possible in DataFlex reports?

And if not what have people done?
