View Full Version : What a pain!

I hope that this is the last time we do this!
I have had nothing but grief trying to get a wire transfer thru to the bank
info. supplied.

My bank tells me they need the bank's address in NY plus the Bank's address
in Curacao plus the address of the beneficiary. Plus a $50 dollar charge to
do the transfer! So we are now already $100 more than if we left things be
in good 'ol St Louis. Plus the airfare etc. My expenses have gone from $500
before to $2500.

What they suggest is by far the easiest is a Money Order mailed and that is
deposited into the bank and that is it. If the order is lost or whatever
they can stop payment and all is golden.

So Peter if you could please supply the addresses as needed. I am sure that
I'm not the only one that's having these sort of problems.

I done everything re: Curacao but this so I can't comment on the difficulty.
Peter, I don't mean to throw a wrench in your well-oiled machine, but have
you considered simply accepting PayPal payments?

Someone could collect all the money via paypal and then be responsible to
then do a single large wiretransfer.. so there is only one headache.

Peter,

Since the Dutch Antilles are part of the Netherlands I would say you
should be able to ask for payment via paypal. Contact the guys. However
AFAIK keep in mind that accepting money via paypal is not free of charge.

Hi,

I very much doubt if that wil work because you have to deal with Banks, and
they are as always not that cooperation. We have all kind of different rules
here for banks because of what ever arrangement.

The fee's are 2.9% + $0.30 USD for amounts lees then 3000US.

That is less then credit card transactions but still available.

Curt,

It is no problem to send a international cheque, but my experience is that
is in some cases more costly then a wire and it takes a long time.
And creating and collecting cheques also cost money. At least that is the
rule here.

Agreed, though I think its Paypal (or now eBay) who are shying away from the banks rather than the other way araound. Cayman is allegedly one of the biggest banking communities on the planet and Paypal will not confirm a date when it will include us. Yet it includes Jamaica, Slovenia and Slovakia - all apparently sources for cc fraud.

I blame Enron.....

I was wondering if you could make arrangements with the hotel to collect
the conference fee.

They already have credit card information, as they requested that when I
booked the hotel. Maybe they could simply draw the amount from the credit
card....

- Just a thought... (I also had trouble with my bank, because of missing
addresses in the given information...)

Curt by "pain" I mean three trips (and counting) to the bank to get this
money through. And you being a contractor yourself you know what that means.
No work, no billable hours, no billable hours no money, no money , no

So Peter if you read this please supply me with the physical addresses of:
1) the New York Bank
2) the Bank in Curacao
3) your address.

Checked the news lately? I don't think I'd have anything to do with
taking money from others and then execute a "foreign" wire transfer.
