Dunno if anybody else has experienced this, but Control Panel --> Programs and Features --> DataFlex 2020 Studio 20.0 --> Right-click --> Uninstall --> (Are you sure...?) --> Yes! gets me a big fat nothing. No error, just nothing happens. Reboot and do the same thing... same result. :(

Advice? Suggestions?

I assume the issue is that it can't locate the uninstall information, for whatever reason. You should still be able to uninstall manually (https://support.dataaccess.com/Forums/entry.php?180-Manually-Uninstalling-DataFlex), as before.

Good grief - how many registry entries??? Thank you for the steer Dennis, but when did somebody at DAW last actually try doing this? This is a significant slice of my life I'm not going to get back! :(

It feels like every file involved has its own registry entry (you know, like every bitmap, JPEG, pkg, dat, hdr, font-file, source-file, etc. in the samples and everything else). My fingers are going numb hitting F3 - Delete - Return literally thousands of times!

Hi Mike,

I usually just delete the 20.0 trees, as in HKCU/Software/Data Access Worldwide/DataFlex/20.0, HKCU/Software/Data Access Worldwide/DataFlex Tools/20.0 and HKLM/Software/Wow6423Node/Data Access Worldwide/DataFlex/20.0

Dennis - I think I've one all of that, but I still can't install Beta 2.

Perhaps SWM could tell me exactly what conditions trigger:
14123

Get rid of the HKCU entries as well as the HKLM.

Stephen

Done all that, I think. Still no joy.

HKCU:
14124

HKLM:
14125

HKLM Wow6432Node:
14126

I've removed 20.0 from Program Files and the Samples from disk and from IIS, and the 20.0 licence folder from ProgramData. Many reboots. The DataFlex 20.0 WebApp Server is stopped, but I can't immediately work out how to remove that from Services.

Running out of ideas now. :(

Maybe try this?

For both installing and uninstalling, DataFlex 20.0 is not listed by that (Microsoft's Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter). For uninstall, there is an option to use the Product Code, so what is that code for DF 20.0 Beta 1?

Both Beta 1 and Beta 2 use the same product code: {B536597D-D7E8-4D32-A607-36105DAB0A4C}

Thanks Harm - that got me a "Fixed" result from the Microsoft tool, however I still get the "Another version of this product is already installed..." error when running DataFlex 2021 Studio 20.0.4.94 Beta 2.exe. :(

Hi Mike,

It seems like it was the wrong product code. Try this one: {64C0AC48-FF45-4853-9100-96CAB0C2F518}

Mike, what OS are you running?

Win7 Pro 64 bit. (Win10 is fine, BTW).

Mike,

If nothing else helps, you can always go with the brute force option and run Process Monitor. If you manage to filter out enough, you should find what registry key is causing the issue.

I no longer think it is a registry key issue. Using the Microsoft tool Stephen recommended with the second code Harm provided got me past the initial problem, but then the install failed later with an error trying to install some component.

I have provided DEA with an install log file and they are looking into it (I guess trying to work out if it is worth the effort for a no-longer-supported OS ;)).

I'm thinking of trying it on a clean (i.e. brand new) Win7 VM.
