So - I was talking to Graham at SELECT, and he was talking about missing the UK Meetups we have, so I thought it would be good to organise a quick ad-hoc meeting sometime in the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking we could go for a couple of hours one weekday (NOT Wednesday), about 7:00PM GMT. (This means we can drink, and it also means that people in the US can join in).

What do people think?
Let me know what days you can be free.

We could organise a presentation if someone wants to give one, but my preference is to start simple, and see what happens.

Happy to give it a whirl. Free most evenings in the week.

so you are going to make us drink early ...

Hi Sean,

I'd be happy to "sit in" - but more as an observer than a participant (I don't want this to become DAC-centric just because of my presence) - unless you think that might be detrimental. Your call...

Michael,

Define "early"...

Drink early: never fear, the sun will be over the yard-arm somewhere!

Happy to join in if I am not down the pub already :D

ditto. Anybody evaluated Teams or Jitsi Meet?

Somebody asked me the other day why I have a beach scene as my zoom background when I live at the beach. I actually live inland so I've switched it to a full moon.
Best thing so far about the zoom experience has been my dogs barking at the landscape service and setting off the dogs at the homes of two other zoomees.

I'd suffer through an early IPA if I had to...

We all have to make sacrifices & it's for a good cause after all

I'd be interested. Send me an invite.

Sean - I think that having one or two presentations "ready to go" would be sensible, as otherwise things might get a bit directionless.

Just my 2¢ though: I'm happy to go with whatever you - and everybody else - want.

When you/we have worked a date/time do you want Helen to shout it around the usual suspects? They don't all visit these Forums much (I'm thinking of Simon Gottschalk, for instance).

4:30 am is a bit early, but if it’s a success I’m keen to join in if there is one more suitable to my time zone.

Dude,

I get up at 5:00 quite often to meet with the development team in Hengelo - come on, you can do it!

Had good fun yesterday!

Here's my powerpoint from the dfSplat presentation I did yesterday. (uhh.. cannot upload a ppt file, so make that a pdf)

I will leave it up to Sean to share the video ;)

PS: Don't forget to sign up for the DataFlex (https://www.reddit.com/r/DataFlex/)reddit (we _need_ higher numbers there to show that DataFlex is relevant!)

Zoom might be a way to get some long dormant DataFlex user groups revived. We used to have a very active group in Dallas years ago.

Thanks for the invite! Really nice even with the time difference. Too bad (most) of us in the USA weren't enjoying a frosty beverage like you lot in the UK ;)

DaveR

Yeah, the Zoom was great, though the intros took forever they gave me time to eat my lunch.

Though I was watching Everton vs Southampton with one eye (which was less great)

oh, and finally rejoined reddit, just for r/dataflex

I missed it. Is there a video recording?

I hope not! You should've heard what we said about you! Just kidding. I believe Wil's DFSplat presentation was recorded, but I believe that's it.

Hi,

Jolanda from DAE has kindly edited the recording of the presentation so that it is watchable (fixing things like bad sound and cutting it so that it includes the questions at the end)

As such the recording is now available here:
https://www.antwise.com/presentations/dfSplat-zoom-UK-20200709.mp4

Also note that Vincent pointed out to me that it might not have been completely clear that my "next week" answer on the question from Mike when WebApp support will be added was a joke. Sorry to disappoint, haven't had the time to look into that yet.
