Hi All -

I've got a customer that wants a web server remotely hosted. They are
currently looking at RackSpace.com & GoDaddy.com.

Figured I'd ask about experiences and/or suggestions.

What they'll be doing:

- It'll have PHP & MySQL (they have an in-house developer for that) + WebApp
& WebServices (both to the server & back to their own network) based on DF
embedded (may move to the MySQL - they haven't decided yet)
- They are currently running ~70,000 hits/month with growth expected to
reach 100,000 in 6 months or so. Probably no more than several hundred to
1,000 concurrent (current ISP can't provide this info - so I'm guessing).

What they're looking for:

- Their own machine
- Daily backups
- Real high speed connectivity (lots of content (incl. asp from the webapp,
over 1,000 pages) & impatient clientele)
- Reliability & up-time
- Other stuff I've forgotten
- oh yeah, $19.95US per month <g>

Thanks!

Hi Garret,
We lease a server dedicated to us from www.asckey.com They are UK channel
partners for DAW so understand VDF and WebApp very well. We got a brand new
server and the performance is staggering! They do a full package including a
web app licence. Mention my name for .00000001% discount (g)

Regards
Mk

<Insert giggle here> :)

The cheapest I saw that was close to this IIRC was 'Serverpronto' or
something like that, but at like $45/mo or higher.

Thank you all (incl. those who emailed me directly) for responding.

The client has ended up going with The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com/).

They were comfortable with the people there as well as the price. One big
concern for them was staying in the US, what with the plummeting dollar
these days. I could get into a lengthy political diatribe here but I
won't - I'll just threaten to invade another country instead....

Thanks again -
