View Full Version : DBExplorer request

I would like an option to Add/remove a column without having to re-select
everything that I have already selected.

Many times, the DBExplorer chooses columns for me (so it doesn't load evey
field). This is good. But it would be nice if it retained the selection of
current columns so I could unselect some and then rebuild the grid. Many
times, I have some fields selected and then I decide I want to see one more
field. Now I have to go select all my fields again and then select the one I
was missing.

To recap:
When I open a table and expand the Columns in the treeview, it should show
all columns that are currently being displayed as "selected". This would
automatically handle the add/remove column because they would be selected
for me.

You could also add another sort option: Sort by Displayed. This would order
all displayed columns first and in the order in which they were selected...
all other fields would appear at the bottom of the list.

I vote for this one too. I asked Vincent several years ago to add this
feature but I think he's too busy and forgot about this.

Try the "[ ] Keep selected columns" in the dbExplorer configure panel.

Even with the "Keep columns", all columns get resized. It would be nice if I
clicked one more column to display, they all would retain their column
width.

This helps when staing within the same session. What if you close the
dbexplorer and start it again and you want to see some extra column.
You have to select all previously display columns again.

David, others,

Next to the tip from BO there is a option on the floating menu labeled
"Select Columns From Datadisplay". This option marks the columns that
are currently in you single or multi record layout.

Sorting the data other than by index is not really possible since it is
a dbGrid and dbGrids are virtual lists not showing all data.

If you enable "Save and restore column settings" and/or "save and
restore DEO information" in the MRU tabpage of the configuration
settings your column and DEO width are stored and restored.

Have you all read the new documentation published for 11.1?

Ok, I missed this one. This solves my wish.
