With all the buzz about Google's new web based applications, fat-clients,
rich Web clients, whatever you want to call them, take a look at Nsites new
Application Builder.

http://www.nsite.com/appbuilder.html

Can DAW and the new Horizon match this kind of user development environment?
Are they (Nsite) kidding ... No programming to develop a web application ???
But take a look, it looks very powerful.

For another point of view take a look at the new AjaxWrite application and
the comparison to MS Word. Still leaves a lot to be desired. But I can see
why M$ is getting a little worried about Google and the rest of the
OpenSource world.

So where is DAW headed with Ajax and Webapp?

Well, I personally do not understand the hype behind this stuff.
I was doing stuff very similar to 'ajax' 10 years ago using CGI and perl.

It is nothing new, I think Google just made it popular.
The prior art with regards to this is extensive.
Someone just slapped a new name on it.
(in this case, a bathroom cleaner :D )

I am just surprised it took this long to be 'hyped' the way it has.

Mark,

I think it is more of an eye opener. About two years ago I had a
WebApp project to turn my Windows apps into WebApps. I looked and
researched all I could but could only come up with opening a child
window to do the trip back to the server. I was looking for what has
become AJAX... exactly.

Or more briefly, a wise woman once said "Que Sera, Sera"

(probably an obscure reference to Rock Hudson staying in the closet
