At June 1, 2010 we opened the Data Access Football pool (http://footballpool.dataaccess.eu/) for the FIFA World championships Football 2010 held in South Africa. As in 2000,2004,2006 and 2008 the football pool website is the powered by Visual DataFlex. This year is the 5th time we organize the football pool.

New in the 2010 Football Pool is that the content is served by a combination of Visual DataFlex applications. The website text content is delivered by Electos (http://www.electos.com), the Data Access Content Management System. The dynamic football data is delivered by a Visual DataFlex webapplication where all functionality comes via Webservices. Of course the AJAX framework (http://ajax.dataaccess.eu) plays an important role in this. We keep track of the webservice call frequencies in another Visual DataFlex application. The Football Pool website is multi lingual and easy to extend with extra languages.

Participation is as in the other years free and this time you can win an Apple iPad. The prizes are sponsored by Data Access Worldwide. We encourage you to also get your business relationships and friends and family members to join so that there are many participants.

The FIFA 2010 Worldcup Football championships start at June 11th and end at July 12. The number of matches played is 63.

The website design is delivered by DAE Graphics.

I loved it last time. Great job.

Yes multi-lingual ... but I can't figure out what version of Spanglish is this ?

" if it looses or that the game ends in a draw..."

Fixed, but you made me puzzle where you found the text.

PS: It would be Dutchism and not Spanglish or so...

Dutch? With an extra vowel? Who'd a thunk it? :D

Why are you not registered and activated yet? I would expect you to be one of the first...

Chuck is registered...

Well, 1) I'm not a follower of football (as in what us barbarians call soccer) & 2) not much in the way of a gambler - except when writing software - as whether or not it'll work is always a gamble!

Congratulations with this great Football Pool. Proven "pool technology" has been extended by a great design of DAE Graphics. It all seems possible with Electos. Well done.

Peter,

Indeed, this is a nice showcase of an Electos website and integration with a different Visual DataFlex Web Application. The dynamic data, ranking, results, prediction is all done via webservices. For the system managers the maintenance runs via an AJAX driven application, of course also combined with the Electos website.
