Raveen,

Here's what I think happened:

1. In the 10.x Studio, the 2.2 revisions of the DB2, MSSQL and ODDBC and
the 2.0 revision of the PSQL Connectivity Kits are included. The 10.x
Studio didn't include the 4.x Connectivity Kits because the 4.x
Connectivity Kits were not released yet.

2. At some point, you installed the DB2 4.x Connectivity Kit into your
10.x development area. This automatically installed the DB2 4.x eval reg
code (the 2 user 2.x code would not have run the 4.x CK anyway).

3. If you look at the "Program Files\DB2 Connectivity Kit 4\Backup from
CK 4.0.0.35" folder, you should see the DB2 2.x CK components that were
replaces when you installed the 4.x CK.

4. If you uninstall the DB2 4.x CK, it should put the 2-user development
and testing license for the 2.2.0.22 DB2 CK back.

Now, back to the topic at hand...

The Studio license includes licenses for whatever the latest CKs are at
the time of that Studio's release. The 11.x Studios will have licenses
for the 4.x CKs for DB2, MSSQL and ODBC and the 3.x CK for PSQL. The
10.x Studios will have licenses for the 2.2 CKs for DB2, MSSQL and ODBC
and the 2.x CK for PSQL.

So, as long as you have maintained your subscription to the Studio and
have the 11 Studio to install, you have all the latest CKs licenses to
use in development and testing mode. If you did not keep your
subscription up, you still have the licenses for the CKs that came with
that revision, and can install the newer CKs in 60 day evaluation mode
(just as you have).

In either case, developers never have to pay for "try out the new
connectivity kit" and developers with current product don't even have to
deal with evaluation licenses.

Best regards,

-SWM-

Stephen,

The DB2-CK is not included with Studio.

I checked my registration and I found the following:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------
DB2 Conectivity Kit 4.0.0.35 IBM DB2 4.0 Evaluation License

Pervasive Conectivity Kit 2.0.0.236 Visual DataFlex 10 - Development
Use
Only
MSSQL Conectivity Kit 2.2.0.22 Visual DataFlex 10 - Development
Use
Only
ODBC Conectivity Kit 2.2.0.22 Visual DataFlex 10 - Development
Use
Only
------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------

As you can see, the DB2 Conectivity Kit is only an evaluation license.

How do I get a "Development Use Only License" for DB2-CK4?

Stephen,

Thanks for the input - I had to restore my installation of VDF10.1

I got it working on DB2-CK2.2 now and it seems to be converting alright -
but I'm just worried about UCASE indexes and OVERLAP fields.

Yes! We do maintain our subscriptions but we haven't decided to move to
VDF11 yet as we don't see significant changes that are relevant to us. Maybe
VDF12? Anyways, its not easy upgrading all the client's sites.
