Will the report writer work as Crystal does in allowing Stored procs to be the datasource?
All my Crystal Reports are against MSSQL SPs , none use the tables themseleves as the datasource.
This allows all the heavy lifting on the server and Crystal is merely a pallette to paste and layout the look of the report.

Chris,
I am not sure, never dealt with this but if you can access the SPs via ODBC as a datasource you should be fine.

Chris, support for stored procedures is not going to be in V1.0. After release of V1.0, we will look into this topic. For now, it's logged as a "wish".

Thanks
No problem I intend to use Crystal for as long as I can. While it works I won't be replacing it.

Hi Nick,
Please add me too as in favour of this wish.
I can second that having a SP doing all the collating of the data, can:
- Simplify your datamodel on itself
- 'Solve' the problem of multi level subreports
- Make the End report much easier to manage
- Allows the end-user to change the report without stuffing up the logic.
- Allows the data to be much more secure (account provided to Crystal users, can only check the SP's)
Cheers,
Marco

Exactly , all the work is on the server, can use function etc to embed complex business logic and Crystal is just a canvas to layout the result.
Much cleaner and faster report handling
