Thank you.

I'm not sure how long each presentation will take. We have five people presenting on six very different topics. Some will be longer than others, but my assumption is that each will be an hour at the very minimum.

Hi,

I was very excited reading about these webinars - it really looks like a very good idea.

However, after following the link to the GoToWebinar I tried to sign up but was discouraged by the cost; $99 a month or $948 a year - that is very expensive!

Or am I missing something?

Best Regards,
Nils G. Svedmyr

In all of our promotions (eNews, direct email, information on DA.com) for the Up-to-the-Minute webinars we've included direct links to GoToWebinar, so that you could investigate the service that we'll be using.

As a webinar attendee you personally do NOT need an account with GoToWebinar. DataAccess Worldwide is the host/organizer, so in order to use this software we need to have an account. Once you register, Data Access will send you login information that will allow you to join the webinar as our guest free of charge.

Please click here (http://www.dataaccess.com/events.asp?pageid=1462) for all of the perinent information and to register. :)

Nice initiative!

Right then, I'm going to bed, because I have to get up before 5 o'clock tomorrow morning in order to attend.

Hi Brienne,

Brilliant! I thought that I might had misunderstood how it all works, but defenitely thought I needed a Webinar account and could not find a way to create one without paying the fee I mentioned.

I have now signed up for the webinars - thanks again! Really looking forward to see how it all works :-)

Eargh?

Ola, are you situated not in Norway? - Then the time for the webinar would be 18:00 hours for Norway/Sweden.

The time difference for Australia makes these impractical.
I did see somewhere that DAW is proposing to do them as a download for others after the event

How long will there be to wait for the webinar to be posted for general download.

Hi Brienne

Does the 11am time - US Eastern US include daylight savings or not.

The timezone does the following for me when I put in US Eastern ...

11:00:00 Tuesday April 14, 2009 in US/Eastern (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/zoneinfo.tzc?s=default&tz=US/Eastern) Daylight Saving Time is in effect on this date/time in US/Eastern converts to
23:00:00 Tuesday April 14, 2009 in Australia/Perth (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/zoneinfo.tzc?s=default&tz=Australia/Perth) Daylight Saving Time is not in effect on this date/time in Australia/Perth

But when I use -5 GMT also stated in webinar information I get ...

11:00:00 Tuesday April 14, 2009 in GMT-5 (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/zoneinfo.tzc?s=default&tz=GMT-5) Daylight Saving Time is not in effect on this date/time in GMT-5 converts to
00:00:00 Wednesday April 15, 2009 in Australia/Perth (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/zoneinfo.tzc?s=default&tz=Australia/Perth) Daylight Saving Time is not in effect on this date/time in Australia/Perth

According to the "world clock" I am checking at the moment, it is now 23:45 in Miami. So that seems to indicate that the time for the webinar will be 17:00 in Norway/Sweden.

If this is really the case, you are still way more correct than me, Nils! :p

I wonder how I managed to mix things up this badly, but anyway, I guess I might as well try to get some work done!

Hello Tom,
I just tried a "world clock" service (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converted.html?day=14&month=4&year=2009&hour=11&min=0&sec=0&p1=156&p2=196) to convert the times between Miami and Perth, and that gave the time 23:00 for Perth. But you shouldn't take my word as gospel, as I just managed to get my own time conversion off by 12 hours...

Hi Ola

No probs, I am confused as well, the time on the DAW website is listed as ...

Time: 11:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern (-05:00 GMT)

But at the moment U.S. Eastern is currently on daylight savings time (that's what I want to clarify) which would be -04:00 GMT not -05:00 GMT as stated above.

Hi Ola,

You are right Ola. I used the Time Zone Converter and entererd GMT -5 for the webinar start (as stated on the web-page "11:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern (-05:00 GMT)"

But don't do that because then the Time Zone Converter doesn't take Daylight Saving Time into the equation, when you do! When I instead used "America/New York" the time is calculated correctly - in this case 17:00.

I know Miami is normally six hours behind us, but that depends because USA and Europe doesn't switch over to DST at the same dates. Well, well, you learn something new each day ;-)

Hi Tom,

I also got bitten by daylight saving when entering "GMT -5" - and I didn't notice the extra info that you described.

The site does a correct calculation if you enter "America/NewYork", but I wonder why they put the "GMT" stuff in there in the first place - it only confuses you.

Tom,

I just did a "what time is it in Perth" in Google and a large number of sites seem to think it is exactly 12 hours difference (I did it at 7:38 AM here and it said it was 7:38 PM there). So, an 11:00 AM webinar here would be 11:00 PM there.

Hi Everyone,

I have used this site for years and have come to rely on it...
http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_US-FL.aspx

It currently says it is 8:43am in Florida & as it is currently 8:43pm in Perth the Webinar will start in just over 2 hours...

Looking forward to it !

cheers Dave

Hey - at least that's the only thing we do differently! Time & Date formats, cell phones, measuring systems, they're all identical, right???

Heck - we even have different states doing DST differently from bordering states...

Hi Bienne,

To stop the confusion with the timezones, what about quoting the times in three zones (taking daylight saving into effect!). EST, Sydney and London. I'm sure that that would give almost everybody a reference point for working out their time. It is a shame to see that persons are missing the events due to mis calculations.

I also noticed that if you put a time on the event in vBulletin, it should recalculate it automatically to the logged in users own time (not sure if it takes daylight saving into effect though).

I guess I just wait for the movies to be downloadable, to show my colleagues.

Cheers,
Marco

I personally apologize for any confusion regarding the time zones. US/Eastern time is currently -04:00 GMT NOT -05:00 GMT as stated in the webinar announcements. I had not taken Day Light Savings time into consideration. :(

Per Marco's suggestion here are the corresponding times in a few areas according to www.timezoneconverter.com (http://www.timezoneconverter.com):

Australia/Melbourne - 1:00 a.m.
Australia/West - 11:00 p.m.
Europe/London - 4:00 p.m.
Europe/Amsterdam - 5:00 p.m.
US/Pacific - 8:00 a.m.
GMT - 3:00 p.m.
I really hope these are accurate...
Once again, the webinars will be available for download in the near future, so please stay tuned for that announcement.

Thank you for your continued interest, and for your support of efforts such as these.

If you are using windows vista, you can add additional clocks and set them to any time zone you want. They also respect any daylight savings in effect. Of course if you really want to go overboard, you can use the CJ calendar control, which can display an alternate time zone, as well as the local time zone. Set it to us eastern time and set a reminder for the webinar. Job done!

Best Regards

Is it possible to post the Webinar access codes up earlier here, say 15 minutes before we are actually supposed to start? I had to look the webinar codes up in the forum yesterday as the email containing the code didn't arrive early enough. :(

In addition, the registration email says that the codes would be sent the day before the webinar. Perhaps my email has been delayed by a day?

Anyone official want to post a response to this? Hopefully with an access code for the Dynamic AI webinar!

Pak - There was an error regarding your registration, and it has been corrected.

Regarding posting the access codes in the forums, we don't do this simply because we want our attendees to register. We like to know who is participating.

We are changing the registration process for future webinars and online trainings, so that it is more automated with less chance of error.

Thanks for this, and the email, Brienne. We did get the codes via DAE in the end so we did log onto the webinar, and the registration information for today's webinar arrived last night, so all's well!

Cheers!

We are actively in the process of making the webinars available for download. At this time I cannot specify when exactly that will be.

We will announce the availability of the webinars on www.DataAccess.com (http://www.DataAccess.com), in the Forums, in eNews, and will also send out an email to the registrants of the Up-to-the-Minute webinar series.

Just watched the recorded versions of the webinars and wondered if the famous cat will be onstage at the next synergy ! :D

Joking aside I think these recorded ones are great. Have not tried a live one yet as have not been around at the right time.

As SWM suggested at the end of the 2009 one I think more shorter ones on specific topics are a very good idea

Not sure how people will feel about the annual big event. You obviously get alot more out of an event by attending, chatting, eating cake and the occasional beer ! .... but webinars are very cost effective in the current times
