Hi Joe,

When you reinstalled Electos this time, did you have it install the
sample workspace? I ask because in the thread you have going in the
Electos NG (which I didn't connect to this one until now - sorry about
that) you mentioned something about not installing the sample. I think
(but it's only a hunch at this point) that that was always the cause of
the problem you were seeing. Depending on your answer, I'll try to take
my theory further...

Best regards,

I decided to try reinstalling the Studio and found that the web app
server
started fine and was running just before the Electos installation began
again. It restarted just fine after the Electos re-installed and
reboot.
So, on my development server I'm in business. Now on to my production
server. Perhaps I'll try a re-install there as well.

BTW -- when I went to access Electos I got the message:
The virtual directory for the electos studio had his "parent path
enabled"
setting turned off. This setting must be turned on...etc.

Hi Joe,

The error you have is telling you that the WAS server is not running, so
the next step is to find out why. If you go into the event viewer you
should see some event that will give you some indication of why. You
might see something like this...

Error starting service: Unable to query license information. Please run
the product registration program and register your Visual DataFlex Web
Application Server license..

....if it can't find the registration at all - or this...

Error starting service: Invalid registration code. Please run the
product registration program and register your Visual DataFlex Web
Application Server license..

....if the registration is bad.

There could be other reasons, but the bottom line is to see what the
event viewer is telling you and we can go from there.

If there are multiple items in the even viewer and you are not sure what
to look at, try to go into the Web Application Administrator and start
the service. Then refresh the event viewer data and see what the latest
error is (there will probably only be one new event).

Best regards,

-SWM-

I'm dealing with (or at least trying to) a similar error -- except mine
is
with Windows 2003 server.
As far as I can find out it has something to do with the global.asa
file
but I know nothing about those things :-)

Anyone?
TIA,
Joe

Gee Stephen -- that was 2 hours ago :-)
-- but as I recall at this time I took the default (which as I recall left
the demo site unchecked).
I'm assuming by sample workspace you're referring to the demo site?
Would the earlier deinstall have removed the original demo website?
If not, then I'm sure I didn't re-install the demo site.
