vBulletin supports RSS feeding for forums. Can you guys please go into the admin panel and turn it on so we can get at the forums via RSS? Here is a guide (a bit old) to turning it on:

RSS feeds (done correctly) is a must. It is the only way I see myself bothering to check the forums, other than resurrecting the newsgroups, and having them synchronized with the web forums.

Completely agreed with the former 2 comments on RSS.

The sounds of silence....:

Please turn it on....it only makes things more open...its not like you can post a topic via RSS...there really isn't much to worry about other than getting more people reading....

I'd use them. I see no harm in turning them on...

Another vote for RSS.

I use RSS a lot, and it's really important to me.

OK - I'll admit I'd never used RSS feeds.

However - that's great & I can even get 'em in Outlook!

This brings back a bunch of the NG functionality I think. Seems that the only difference is that you have to open the forum to reply - but there's a link for doing that.

Thanks for pushing on the Oliver et al!

Best,

Thanks, but what is strange in thunderbird as RSS reader is that I only get to see the original question and NO replies to the post. Suppose I'm doing something wrong?

I suspect this is just how it is. There may be a RSS feed for all posts, but I'm not sure RSS could be used to thread responses like in a newsgroup.

Hi Wil,

it's possible that we can do more. Currently, we've simply turned on the vBulletin RSS feeds, and not added any of our own, so it's just doing whatever vBulletin does by default. We can look into doing more in the future, but that will be after Synergy, at least.

Hmm... well just seeing the question without any response of anyone is pretty much useless if you ask me. The value of the newsgroup/forum is most of the times in the answers, not in the questions. Even if RSS doesn't show this to me as a thread.. it is fine, i can match them up with the thread in my head. Been doing that for years.. i didn't use thread view in the newsreader either.

Now i just get to sniff the cheese, but when trying to eat it.. it's not there ;)

An app to track beers owed? You can't remember the #? Boy - I wish I were owed that many!

That's not true, Garret, I believe you owe yourself quite a few for answering your own posts!:p

Yeah right - that's just like trying to get my PITA boss to give me time off - even unpaid!:D

Is it possible that the RSS feeds have been turned off again?
Haven't been able to get any feed from it since 04-14... while not perfect, it was better as no RSS feed at all.

Interestingly enough RSS feeds started working again the day after I posted my complaint.
Now if we could get the complete thread in a feed and not just the question, it would be even better.
Having that by tomorrow is fine ;)

I've definitely been recieving RSS data since the date you mentioned.
I'd like to see the RSS feed feature tha same data as the New Posts section, rather that just showing newly posted threads.
