I installed VDF11 on a Dell Dim 4700 e/w Intel Pentium4 CPU 3.00ghz (6 mo
old computer)
the operating system is MS Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service
Pack 2

IIS is also installed.

I get the HTTP 404 File Not Found message when the WebbApp examples are
clicked on.

like http://localhost/DAW.Examples.Asptest11 (and the same for each of the
other examples).

The VDF examples work fine but not the WebApp. I have un-installed VDF11 &
electos and re-installed them several times. I have turn IIS off and on
several times.

It is quite frustrating. Any IDEAS ???

Thank you, Rafael

Rafael,

Could you please check the following:

Are all services are running:
- World wide web Publishing service
- Visual DataFlex 11.0 Web Application Server

Have you checked the windows eventlog if there are some error messages
in it

Is your default web site running (check through Internet Information
Services

Regards,
Hans

Find the shares under Web Sites in Admiistrative Tools - Internet
Information Services - Web sites - Default Web Site. Then select the
share, right click, select browse. Does it work?

Does *any* web share work? If there is none, create one containg a html
file and browse it from here. This will ensure IIS is working.

The check properties for a webapp web share. Click the application
Confirguration button and se that asp files are supported, pointing a dll.

Check that anonymous access is enabled, or at least that there is an
authentification method available. See directory security under the
webshare Properties.

Then try the asptest. Of the asp doesn't work the problem is entirely
IIS related, not VDF Web Application related.

Newsgroups trimmed. This is a web application issue.

Rafael,

Open up IIS, look in default web sites, and find the virtual directory
created to run your application. Does it have error on it? If you
click on it can you see the files?

This is often the cause, especially with XP. You may need to change the
connect as, to a user with more rights.

HTH

Ian

Hello Ian

As suggested, I checked the services and I found that the Default Web Site
has the error flag. When I tried to START it
I got the following: Unexpected Error 0x8ffe2740 occurred. All the files
needed for the examples are listed under the Default Web Site.

I will keep trying. Thank you very much, Rafael
