In the dbBuilder when editing a table there are too may Ok keys needed to be
pressed.
Firstly when closing an edited table message Save1 is presented.

Pressing Yes presents Save2 is presented. Pressing cancel here stops the
change being implemeneted thereby negating the need to Save1 box..

Once the change is done Save3 is presented necessitating pressing OK to
exit. The only reason a messageBox should be presented here is if there has
been an exception. Correctly saving the table should nit require the Studio
to inform me it behaved correctly!
If there is a need to see a History print that option should be on Save2
(the only box really needed)

Hi Chris,

I have to agree...

I similar example. I just migrated a workspace from 8.2 to 11 and there
were about 20 old programs that I just didn't need. To delete each one:

Select
Click Delete
Confirm - Yes
Message to inform you it was deleted ! ( not necessary ! )
( repeat 19 times ! )

Yes ,I really dislike apps that need a pat on the head for doing what they
were requested to do!! Only tell me when you can't perform requested action!

Nice to know it's not just me that finds those extra ones annoying..... At
least OK is the default key so you can just press <Enter>. Small thing, I
know.

Are you sure you are talking about dbBuilder? I am not sure what save1 save2
and save3 are in your message. If I edit a table I get one question if I
want to save and one panel that shows the progress of the save operation. We
could possibly take away the first one but the last one should always be
there IMO. I personally would not take away the first confirmation.

I do remember at one point we where asked to build in more confirmation
messages. At that time build in messages for remove, erase and delete table.
You can configure if you want to see those.

Ben
The extra dialog comes is you use the tick button to toggle back to normal
mode. maybe this one is not needed as the next dialog (which comes when you
click save) allows cancelling here
..
Why does the progress dialog need to be there left up to answer ok to if the
dbBuilder has done the save without a problem. As I said before only tell me
if there is a problem otherwise dismiss the dialog automatically

I agree that I only need to know if something went wrong & while you're at
it, please make the "Create .Def" checkbox checked as the default.

The standard .def files are almost worthless since there is date, time and
used number of records in it. We've created a tool to auto generate the def
files and then strip this info. That means any developer can run the tool
and when he goes to check his code in he immediately see that he has a
difference against the "live" version.

I logged this as a suggestion (removing the date, time, etc) with DAW a
_long_ time ago...

Anders -

Different needs for different developers.... Sigh.

I don't use any kind of SourceSafe program, so I find the dates handy: The
table was set up this way on April 1 & now it's this way... IOW manual
checking. I must admit that I don't care about the # of records, though

So - to push the envelope - how about an option set somewhere where that
info can be included or not?

Garret,

I use the defs for some of my processing so I also select to print
them every time.
