DAW,

I read that there was plans/beta version for a WebApp 2.9.7 for Linux as far
back as 2001,
what happenned to it?

If DAW don't want to to pursue a GUI VDF for Linux (which I think they
should pursue), they should at least build a WebApp for Linux - imagine
buying a Windows Server just because you need a web-application when your
entire organisation is running Linux servers and plus most of the world's
web servers are Linux/Unix based.

Please try to hear your customers request and needs.

Thanks.

Daw,

For reference on how easy or at least the possibilities are for a WebApp on
Linux,
See:
http://www.pcquest.com/content/search/showarticle.asp?arid=47162&way=search

If the use of ASP is the main reason that WebApp 2.x for Linux was
discontinued, here's an article showing how ASP & ASP.net can be setup up
under Apache.

Or DAW could use SunOne as a base for WebApp for Linux (as its the closest
to MS-IIS)

Raveen Ryan Sundram

We have a very real need for wepapp/VDF for linux, we have real problems
communicating with our vdf10.1 webapp and our linux based DF3.2, you would
not believe me if I told you the lengths we have to go to keep the data in
synch, because we cannot write to the linux data (serious locking issues),
Please DAW listen to your customers.

Nick

Hello Nick
I am curious
Are you running native dataflex database or Client Server like Pervasive or
MySQL or DB2 or ...?
Thanks
Archie

Native Dataflex, but we are shortly going to DB2.

It's also the fact that the whole company runs on Linux boxes, we have to
have special windows boxes just for VDF.
